This mall is so creepy at night! Thanks for capturing that. Exton Square is so wild, it's so large and beautiful and yet completely dead. Great video 👍

my friends and i had been in this mall late at night, years ago, after we hung at round one. they hadn't separated it yet with the metal gates. it really was just as dead in the daytime as it was the night. it was fun running around. empty and dimly lit

I remember Exton Square Mall when it first opened in 1973 I was eight years old. It was renovated and enlarged in the late 1990s but was never the same.

Remember going there Christmas Eve night like 3 years ago and being blown away at how desolate it was. Far cry from its hay days in the early 2000s.

Grew up in the area and moved to Lancaster around the time they expanded the mall, but I remember coming back in the early-mid 2000s it was packed and had so many open stores. Crazy to see how fast it went downhill.

Back in Time is a kiosk by the 2nd floor playground that replaces watch batteries and does repairs. The owner, Ron, is a veteran who is vowing to stay as long as the mall is open. He's a nice guy and is interesting to talk to. Frida's has excellent Mexican food.

I’m originally from Texas, but my ex wife and I lived in Downingtown for a couple of years and I have fond memories of our many visits to this mall. When we first moved here, this was one of the very first malls that we visited because I needed a warm winter coat and so we came to this mall to the Eddie Bauer store where I bought a very nice parka. In 2005, I worked for FedEx Ground delivering packages and this mall was one of my afternoon routes. I made a few friends here at this mall on my route and I always enjoyed the time I spent here. Everyone was so friendly and this mall was just always so nice and clean. It’s sad to see that this is what it looks like now. I will always remember it the way it was back in 2005.

Exton Mall was awesome growing up 5 minutes away. Wild to see it so desolate.

I lived near Eaton in the mid 1970’s. The Exton Mall was much smaller then. It had a recessed play area for kids while parents shopped. Certainly not something that would be considered safe today. The other thing I recall is that the UP escalator was on one end of the mall and the DOWN escalator was on the other. A vivid memory is getting on the escalator holding my 2 year old, packages and the hand of my 5 year old. When I stepped on, my 5 year old got scared and did not. PANIC…. Now I’m moving down, and she is at the top crying, and my knowing I would have to walk to the other end of the mall and back to where I last saw her. Fortunately another shopper, seeing the dilemma picked her up and brought her to me.

I used to travel to this mall often from Reading when I first got my driver's license in the late 90s. The mall was very popular at that time, and there was an awesome hobby store in the lower level. They also had the only Wizards of the Coast store that I ever saw, which was located right where the Charlotte russe store is now (seen at 7:10 in this video).

Night mode......WHAT!!!! you weren't exaggerating in the least that's creepy. It almost looks like they closed and locked you in there. Mind blown, excellent video as always man

Fun fact: If this mall ever closes Round 1 and Boscov's can stay because they own their buildings same with LensCrafters.

I actually got busted for filming here. Security told me that videotaping was not allowed without permission from management. I personally think that's bullshit considering the fact that the facility is dead as a doornail.

@@JeremysRetailExplorationThis mall declined when the expansion was built at King of Prussia Mall. The fountain was drained in 2017 and filled with plants. Earlier this year, I asked PREIT if they have a plan drawn up to revitalize the mostly vacant mall, and I got no answer.

Jeremy-Of all these failed malls you've visited and researched, which one (ones) do you think is the sorriest story of them all? The one that, beyond all expectations, fell flat on its ass and failed. Or those who crashed and burned due to poor management? Thanks, great work once again on this report.

The one mall that I visited that I think is the saddest, would probably be the Pittsburgh Mills mall In Pittsburgh, PA. The mall opened in 2005 and never really had any life and was sold for a very low amount at one point. The mall has been struggling for such a long time. The mall is huge and it's so sad to see how it looks today. I visited in 2017, but I never filmed any video. I am planning on going back soon.

It pains me to say it but it’s technically impossible and far too expensive/complex compared to a demolition and rebuild. Even if that’s bad for the environment itself.

The investors made millions on malls, and the local governments are still paying off the bonds related to them.
