I really love how you can see how much Elfam has truly evolved, he sings in a much smoother tone that he did back when he was younger, showing his loss of that extreme energy yet still maintaining his overall personality and skill at music truly one of the most brilliant song writers of all time
@abbyboyd51115 жыл бұрын
Sorry for the long post. I tend to ramble. I don't think his energy is any less. I think he was slightly uncomfortable performing it after so many years. But, if you watch towards the middle to end of the song he started being more animated. Steve Bartek was the same way. So I think it was just nerves. Also, the Elfman (ok that's just tacky) is a rather shy individual and not knowing how the people would react after not singing for so long . He needn't have worried though. I think the crowd would have been just as excited if he just read the lyrics. That's just my two cents worth (more like a $1.00's worth. ) 😉

Come on! Bring back Oingo Boingo for one more tour!
@gustafsone5 жыл бұрын
The original reason he gave for quitting the band and touring was because of permanent hearing loss/damage from all the years of touring with Boingo. It was a hard choice for him to make but since his movie-composing career was just beginning to take off, he couldn't risk any more hearing damage so he decided to call it quits with Boingo after their last show in (I think?) 1996. He has been doing small tours and one-off shows for Night Before Christmas for the last 7 or 8 years or so, but performing with an orchestra is vastly different than fronting a loud rock band. I don't think he is interested in a Boingo reunion but since he has been performing live in recent years and seems to be enjoying himself, I'd say there is a slight chance they might end up doing some one-off shows sometime, but definitely not a full tour.

@slimjimmy5 жыл бұрын
@@gustafsone Yes, but back then it was called the Universal Amphitheater. My first show was their 1986 Halloween or Dia De Los Muertos show at Irvine Meadows Amphitheater, and I saw them every year until their last show in 1995. What amazed me back then was that for those Halloween shows, they had no opening act. It was just them for two and a half hours. There's some full concert videos here on KZbin, but if you get a chance, buy the Goodbye concert DVD they released several years ago. Amazing live band.
@gustafsone5 жыл бұрын
@@slimjimmy I'm way ahead of you. I already have a couple of their DVD concerts. I don't have one for their halloween shows, but I've downloaded a couple of high quality videos I've found on KZbin of those epic shows. I would kill to be able to go back in time and be at one of those halloween shows! I have met Danny Elfman a few times, though, so I was able to tell him in person how much his music means to me, with his amazing movie scores and all of the Boingo stuff. He's a really nice guy. OH! I also met Steve Bartek at a Battlestar Galactica live show, of all places. He was part of the band that Bear McCreary put together and I happened to get to the venue super early and since it was a public space, they couldn't stop anyone from watching their tech-check and final rehearsal that happened earlier in the day. They were all hanging out after their checks and chatting with the small group of us that had gathered.

Oingo Boingo doesn't play at all anymore as a band. Danny is way to busy with composing music for t.v. shows and movies something he much prefers to playing live. He's an incredible composer as well as singer, songwriter and musician!!, when I was only 14 when "only a lad" came out and his music was so incredibly composed it didn't surprise me at all that he changed directions a bit. All of the years of playing live and really loud started damaging his hearing in one ear so he decided to end it before it got worse. Besides this his band always consisted of alot of members which anyone with a musical background knows how difficult it is to keep that many people together, usually the more people there are in a band the more problems there's going to be, it's possible to keep it going but difficult. Google Oingo Boingo band members and you'll see what I mean. I've seen it happen with bands that only have 4 or 5 members. Danny is probably more than content with composing which is perfectly fine in my opinion. To me I sincerely feel he is the "Chick Corria" of t.v. shows and movie scores!!
