Not gonna lie my reasoning as a kid. I thought The characters were all genetic Experiments example Kasumis teleporting, bayman standing in fire,busas izuana drop,also the opening sequence you see lines of names and regions as a kid looked like genetic experiments to me. I thought all the characters were a genetic experiment put in a fighting tournament just cause of the intro. Lol

You wouldnt be far from the truth. Its hinted I believe that kasumi, hayabusa, ayane, and a couple more are incarnations of dragon deities. Hence their ability to teleport or cast ninpo (magic). Also helps to explain why they're seemingly indestructible.
