In the OG there were two or three times where u had to run around doing nothing while the next case became available. That’s one aspect of the OG that hasn’t age well at all. The fast-forward is a nice feature for those not looking to save everyone but every second becomes precious once you’re going for challenges like that.

Come on man, I get that not everybody liked Infinity mode but that doesn't mean *no one* liked it. The classic infinity mode is something I have sorely missed in every subsequent game in the series. What is shown here is basically a different mode entirely. The charm and uniqueness of infinity mode to me was the realistic way you had to deal with the downtime. In a presumable zombie apocalypse, you'd venture out to collect/stockpile food and eventually, you'd have to hunker down and subsist on what you collected just like in the game. Players would have to keep an eye on their healthbar or keep a timer for feeding Frank but otherwise they had to find something to do in real life. I used to watch movies, read books, play handheld games, or talk on skype when I played infinity mode back in the day. Fast forwarding bypasses this aspect of the mode. The other key aspect of it was the endurance test. I'd be okay with self deleting exit saves since back in the day you could pause and leave your console on overnight or when you had to do something else (as long as you turned off the sleep mode) and on modern systems/PC keeping the window open and the PC running isn't a big deal. However if you get multiple permanent save slots and thus get to correct mistakes in your run, I think that defeats the purpose of not only the original challenge but also this new version of the challenge. I also am concerned about the fact zombies drop boxes and potentially food in this version. In the original when you ran out of food placed in areas you had to risk taking some damage fighting bosses or survivors armed with weapons to get food. But if zombies can drop food then it'd be much easier to just farm them for it since as long as you are careful you can easily avoid damage from them. I will note that cheesing bosses and survivors with the megabuster from afar did make it too easy and I'd think it is a good change if you made it so it didn't spawn in that mode. Adding things is fine but not at the cost of removing other things especially when the goal is to be faithful. Why couldn't you just give us the option the play the original mode as well? You can have a modern infinity mode and classic/endurance mode for those of us who want it and separate leaderboards (if you are even still doing leaderboards). I know it would not be that hard to add it's just making a menu and setting some flags. As an aside, I'm also disappointed the skateboard size bug is still there and I still find Cliff's dialog change distasteful. The skateboard is a bit funny but the Cliff change is unnecessary. Having the characters say things isn't an endorsement of what they are saying especially in Cliff's case where he is having a psychotic episode. Also removing the references to the Vietnam war is just silly since he literally uses guerilla jungle warfare tactics against the player and uses a machete. There are a lot of other changes I'm kinda disappointed by and they are all adding up. The more I see of the game the less I wanna try it.

Fingers crossed they have toggleable settings for this kind of stuff! I'm okay with the time fast forwarding since I can just choose not to use the feature but the zombies dropping items definitely takes away the survival aspect. It's the same primary reason why resident evil is considered to have 2 genres, survival horror and action horror, in survival horror enemies don't drop items, making them a dangerous obstacle rather than a resource.

My two cents: from a visual and gameplay perspective, perfect remake. From a story perspective is where things get a smidge dirtier with censorship (changing “communist” lines, removing “sexy camera shots”, and changing one boss to a different race mostly); I don’t like censorship…at all. I’ve got the OG. I bought the remake. I’m sure it’ll be fine, maybe even better than the original in some ways…but changing stuff ruins the original’s artistic integrity. That’s all.

This looks bad for current gen only release, the Shadows indoors are clearly not ray traced and have that blurry screen space shadow look when in fact they should be more sharper since the light is coming from the store lamps not the sun, there is no AO on moving objects the reflection seem no existest not even SSR which might be a console thing if they are playing this on PS5 over all this looks very mixed for current gen, I guess they're compensating with huge amount of zombies that probably give CPU hard beating, but I really fear that PC version will look just as bad as this

It's like because of the graphical limitations, they really had to push sound as well to immerse you back then. 👍 I've been noticing them slip with censorship and quality a lot lately...

The editing was a little weird, but it looks like you can save in Infinity mode. Not only did he say that you can fast forward time at any save point, but he later also said that you don't have to play the mode all in one sitting anymore, implying you can save and come back to it later.
