I just started watching your videos and enjoy them. The only advice I'd offer is to slow a moment so we can kinda see them too. People won't get upset if you're there. In the victorian times when cemeteries were created, it was very normal for people to picnic in them. In the end cemeteries are more for the living than the dead. It's where we remember them.

Thanks Victoria. It's a bit tricky to keep everyone happy, some people just want to walk and others want to read. I'm working on it, but in the meantime you can slow the video down or pause it.

@ 17.05 Johann Andreas Streicher was a German pianist, composer and piano maker. In 1793, he married Nannette Streicher, another piano maker and daughter of Augsburg piano maker Johann Andreas Stein. In 1794, they moved to Vienna. From that time, Streicher worked as a piano teacher and became increasingly known for his compositions. The Streicher piano-making business provided at least one fortepiano to Beethoven in his early years, of which the composer was fond, writing that it was "too good for me ... because it robs me of the freedom to produce my own tone".

An amazing tour, including the musicians' section, with Schubert, Brahams, and Beethoven! I found out that the grave with the reclining Cupid on the lap of a sitting cartoon bunny said, in German, "Unknown Artist" on the stone. "Unbekannter Kunstler" -- 2010. Perhaps one of the oddest memorials.

I love the quotes of Beethoven especially one of them, He said music is like a dream. One that I cannot hear. In other words he made very good excellent music but he himself could not hear the music that he wrote to know if it was good or not. But his music was good. I like that quote. Then, let every man do that which is right, strive with all his might towards the goal which can never be obtained, develop to the last breath the gifts with which the gracious Creator has endowed him, and never cease to learn. For life is short, art eternal. I wish you music to help with the burdens of life, and to help you release your happiness to others.

The grave behind the Cat and next to the pink sausage at 18:59 that is composed of metal rods is Hedy Lamar. Famous Hollywood actress and as some claim, the inventor of bluetooth.
@juliusfucik40114 ай бұрын
Hedy Lamarr did not invent BT. She invented a method to make radio transmitters change frequency dynamically ("frequency hopping"). It was an invention that during WW2 made it very difficult for the enemy to jam radio controlled torpedoes. Ironically, she implemented her invention with help from her composer friend George Antheil. Antheil used his musical inspiration to use musical rolls to make the transmitter and receiver use the same frequency at the same time. Their invention is patented under rhe number US2292387.

What i dislike about US cemeteries is the regulation which requires crypts to be covered by granite slabs, even in the case of private family mausoleums🥺It's a such dull sight to see those all those identical slabs when you peek inside a mausoleum, because it prevents one from seeing those beautiful coffins and caskets of 19th century which are no longer in use ⚰

Zentralfriedhof is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful cemeteries in the world, and when it comes to US, i believe that iconic Green-Wood cemetery in Brooklyn/NYC is the wettest dream of a taphophile with its massive 478 acres with more than half a million permanent residents😅Green-Wood has its own historian and they offer guided trolley tours, and if you are lucky, you can even visit the catacombs as well as interior of the mausoleums!💞

Got curious about the bunny with the child in his lap at the end. Seems to be a street art project, not an actual grave. Like the inscription says, the artist remains unknown. The cemetery administration had no idea either and no one really gave their consent for this little sculpture, but it seems no one is really bothered by it either, so I guess that's why it's still there. After all it sits on "private property" (i.e. the space in between the monuments belongs to their respective grave owners). Very interesting indeed!

One thing i disagree with Austrian way of recycling grave plots is, when they exhume the remains from the vaults, it's a shame they dump the old coffins in scrapyards😑Because those 19th century metal coffins are truly masterpieces of art! I support the practice of recycling graves and reuse of plots, as it helps to maintain the cemetery for the upkeep, but i wish they preserved the old handmade coffins
