One thing that is very hard as a person coming from just general gaming: there is no "magic" timing on the 1 ability. No matter how pixel perfect you cast it early with 1, it'll do reduced damage. You have the let the game fire it for full damage. It's something I'm having extremely hard time grasping and wish they would give a small "perfect" window when we cast it again ourselves in the perfect time.

yes 100%. For the full cast just let it do it on its own. It takes getting used to for sure. There is also three different dmgs though for the power slash. Those little bars are indicators and sometimes you cant land a fully charged power slash so getting that extra dmg can go a long way if you need to cast it early. I agree with you though fully
