While I enjoyed your video I also have to disagree with a lot of your criticism. The game is extremely well balanced for its state of development and your hero choices for op and underpowered heroes show that you haven't played enough to have a good understanding of the meta. Seven is a noob stomper and is quite mediocre at higher levels, mechanics like leaning allow you to easily kill him during his ult and his laning isn't very good. Abrams was one of the best heroes at the time of your upload (alongside Kelvin and Bebop). Parrying has a lot of disadvantages and even if abrams gets parried, he is insanely tanky and won't die that easily. I would have only considered these 3 heroes as slightly op and only yamato and grey talon as bad (they can still have a lot of impact by snowballing but snowballing is more difficult). Todays patch might have changed things up though. Towers are easy to kill if you get to burst them down while no enemy is there. Zip line boosting and spreading over the map to farm makes defending objectives much more easier. Comebacks aren't as unusual as you make it sound. The game is all about the mid boss in its current iteration. If you manage to steal it / win a teamfight because enemies are grouped at mid boss / sneak it by bursting it down while the enemies are focused on an objective / simply get enough space by getting pickoffs - your chances of winning increase a lot. In addition i see it as an absolute win that valve is the creator of deadlock. Of all big publishers they are by far the most consumer friendly. While they don't update some of their games as frequently as the community would wish, they are still ahead of a of other publishers as they are still online and playable without milking the playerbase dry. They also have the best monetization models and their anticheats aren't invasive. And before you say that invasive anticheats like vanguard are a good thing - they aren't. They are just an illusion of safety. There are tons of ways to develop undetectable cheats that can only be prevented by moving most client side logic to the server and essentially streaming the game, which would be very expensive. Downsides of invasive anticheats are that they can be abused for malware, could be malware itself, is more often than not difficult to remove completely, and there are tons of cases where vanguard pretty much destroyed windows installations. Valve is also one of the few gaming companies that embraces linux. They also added a their first iteration of an anticheat to deadlock today and i am certain that they have been working on a good AI-based server-side anticheat for a while now. Combining a well trained AI anticheat with invisible matchmaking punishments where certainty can be reevaluated could revolutionize the anticheat market. Have you read their Discord and Forum Posts by the way? I would consider their development process very transperant. Deadlock has been in development for years and dota still received big, thought out updates that kept the game fresh without going the route of other games that just release powercreeped new characters while some older ones are bad for years.

FYI, the robots and metal arms is a remnant from when the game was Neon Prime, a sci fi theme. that version got cancelled, and the art design got overhauled like a year ago to be what it is right now.

30:00 they treat their game the same, unless it's engine problems like tf2, it need more resource to port it to Source 2. If you know how Dota 2 Beta before, Deadlock are the same. the "Problem" is not actually a problem, it's strategy for add more new voice in the echochamber of Moba and TPS. If they can have this much player only on close Alpha, they doing their job right. The problem is for people who didn't understand how they works and making guess "Is this good or not" etc. Their Matchmaking is working, if they decide to "open beta" just download from steam, ther matchmaking will works. For now, I see some group working inside this game, Assets people since it's still in alpha, gameplay + balancing, and online feature + matchmaking. I love to see their work live like this, it's so fun, since we didn't know what will change in the next day and what is broken .etc The fun part of the game is when it's still in the development, you can kinda guess what their thinking. and I've notice good dev team behind deadlock. The rest is up to the community.

Did bro really just reupload the video? It's still not good and poorly researched. Like you took this down and had time to change the part where you say you dont know why Valve released the game in alpha when the information is very much known and despite multiple people telling you why in the comments of your original video.

they just released an anti-cheat system, and a very funny way of dealing with cheaters in-game too. I also think that the balancing is what they have done the best so far(? my only complain is Flameo guy being impossible to lane against cuz of high bullet speed and if u wanna melee anything opps! ground is on fire. Gunplay is whatever but its what the "autoattack" is supposed to be so I really think they also nailed it good with that one. The aesthetic and design I think is through the roof, their character designs are some of the best ive seen in years (Dynamo and Lash are perfect and the epiphany of design ill die on that hill) The items are the most easy thing to comprehend if you just stop for a minute to see the store layout and separating them in just 3 types and cost values is so much better than whatever they do in both Dota and League, pls tell me or a new moba player the difference between a legendary and a mythic item in dota.

I agree that towers are weak af, but pumping the numbers up for the dmg they deal specially, (not so much hp they have) would solve the issue quickly

I can tell you play Dota. In League, Towers aren’t much of a threat ever anymore. And they don’t get stronger as you get closer to the base. But I do agree towers should be a threat and a safety net.

This is not the "future of dota" games. It has too many overly complex hidden mechanics (Like crouch sliding granting infinite ammo) that will make the skill celling absurdly high that the average bad player will not be able to keep up.

Idk if i totally agree with a lot of your issues here. League has like 10x the number of items for example, and they are way more confusing to read through and understand what they do. Seven is actually one of the worse characters in the game outside of low tier lobbies with new players. He has tons of counters, and tons of ways to combat his builds. He is good, but so is literally everybody else. Melee Abrams isn't even his best build, and there are plenty of ways to bait out parries as well

right now it feels like the closed beta is only there for expectations, so people know it's a work in progress. Steam's traditional "Early Access" label would fit it perfectly tbh

The game is fun till you win a couple games in a row and it thinks you're really good now and then puts you against people who don't even allow you to play making you want to not play anymore. I get it's an alpha, but match making is terrible

In a way you are right about the perspective or the fact that it’s a shooter (considering that other 3rd person MOBAs don’t do all too well in general) but I think it’s for the wrong reason. It’s not that the isometric view is “antiquated” or something like that. It’s that shooters, or more precisely games that control like a shooter, are just way more popular and common. Both First Person and 3rd Person Views control very similarly. Most popular games are of these perspectives, so that means most gamers just have a lot more experience with the control scheme, whether it’s Mouse and Keyboard or Controller doesn’t really matter.

31:00 I think this happened because a Journalist violated the agreement on startup during closed alpha by "pressing ESC instead of OK" so he just straight up put out an article thinking not hitting ok meant he could just violate Valve's trust.

Uninstalled the game cuz of the deny mechanic. It is very hard to play against sweats as a casual player but I would like to try again if they remove this feature.

When you finish them with a melee attack you instantly get the bonus souls, so they can't be denied. Getting higher bullet velocity will also help with making denies easier. If you're understandably frustrated with one-sided matches, I would wait until the game releases and the mmr system is more fleshed out

Played this for like 200 hours, Id rather just play a better 3rd person shooter or a better moba. This game is doing both and honestly it just doesn't work. Most of the "skill" is completely shut down by basic moba elements like resource acquisition and map knowledge. What ever happened to the days of great 3rd person shooters? Now we just get gimmick games that are worse than just playing a more focused version of a gimmick. I've played Dota2 for 10k hours, and I'm not a huge fan of it now, the moba formula gets old eventually and that high you were chasing where a "close" and "interesting" game only happen once every 100 games. It's the same case for this game, You'll spend hours chasing a high that you never get too. A high that can be easily accessed if you just played a basic shooter at competitive level. I bet the game will do alright, and it will probably have big streamer events and stuff. But I don't imagine the game will be some sort of masterpiece but rather some crummy game that occupies more of your time than it has any right to. Much like all other mobas.

Valve is good at releasing highly polished games... BUT they suck at maintaining their online games. I don't want to bother with another game that might end in the same sad state as TF2.
@koden530
@koden530 19 сағат бұрын
I'll be honest, I never understand this mindset. I'm not trying to be overly aggressive with you here, but you do realize that TF2 came out in 2007 right? The game is almost 20 years old. Personally, I think you should be thankful that Valve ever made the game and supported it for even a year after release (especially back then). No game is meant to last or be supported forever. I mean, Halo 2 isn't getting any new updates either, and in fact, only after supporting the game for a couple of years the devs (Bungie) sold audiences another 60 dollar game (Halo 3). That is just how the gaming market has always been.

Which major publisher/developer is still maintaining games from 2007? They have been great at maintaining dota 2 in my opinion - a game that has been around for over 13 years and still receives big content updates and regular balance patches.

TF2 is in a good state, especially considering its over 15 years old. They got rid of bots, we are getting small updates and the final comic is finally in the works.
