Hello, and thank you for your channel. I am a new ferret Mom of two females. I will definitely be checking in for all you wisdom with owning and caring for these magical animals. Do you know anything about MCT's- mast cell tumors. I just found a sore on my panda ferret. She has a doctors appointment tomorrow. I am going to look into feeding her raw diet now. Any information on the best action to take is greatly appreciated.

Hi, hopefully your vet visit went well. MCTs are relatively common neoplasms in ferrets and thankfully (unlike for dogs) are almost invariably benign. Due to their ease of access on the skin surface are relatively easily to surgically remove and is considered curative. Although if you're observing a sore rather than a darkened spot like a mole, then maybe its something else. Good luck!

Hi, thank you for this informative video. One of my ferrets started showing hair loss on his tail and the back between his shoulder blades. We checked with the vet only 3 weeks ago and she said it could be hormonal. Now he is also losing hair on his chest and belly. I will call the vet again tomorrow, after your video I'm sure my ferret has adrenal disease, but could it be something else as well?

The vet is right, in that hair loss is usually hormonal. But adrenal disease is just tumours causing extreme hormone imbalance. The vet will be the right person to judge whether there is anything to look into in terms of more serious complications like adrenal. But certainly ask whether the hormone imbalance could be due to adrenal disease. Good luck.

@@kingsdownferrets8485 thank you! all of our ferrets had issues with hormones and got a single hormonal shot by the previous vet (who is retired now), the new one told us to wait and see if it gets worse. I hope little Sammy will be okay.

Hello I am from Indonesia and I have 3 rescued senior Ferrets 1 male is about 4-5 years old, the other two are female about 3 years old. I noticed maybe they have adrenal disease they lose a bit of weight, their fur isn’t that thick, and the male is hard time peeing he makes noises while peeing. I have contacted the vet buy they don’t have any implants on stock, I also did some research and contacted Virbac Indo person that these implants did not registered in Indonesia so none is available. Are there anyways to cure Adrenal disease other than implants? Do you think surgery is the best option if implants are not available? I wanna hear your thoughts our beloved Ferret expert. Cheers…

Hi, sorry to hear that your ferrets are poorly. The symptoms you mention are unfortunately indicative of adrenal disease. Especially the difficulty peeing for males. Has your vet done any advanced assessment and confirmed a diagnosis? Unfortunately I cant really offer individual case advice, as I'm not a vet, and it really needs in-person vet assessment. You say that the vet hasnt got any suprelorin in stock, but isnt it a case of ordering some and it be available soon? If not, cant you buy it on the internet somewhere and get it posted to you? If your vet agrees, then surgery is the other course of action. But as mentioned on the video, its primarily surgery or suprelorin as treatment options.

@@kingsdownferrets8485 we haven’t really assessed weather he has adrenal disease or not but me and our vet just have a speculation because we haven’t gone a further to do a CT scan. Do you think I should do a CT Scan on my male Ferret to confirm he has Adrenal tumor? Thanks

Hi, I can't advise you for sure, as you need to come to the decision based on discussions with your vet. But some form of internal scan, whether that is ultrasound or CT, is likely to add information for the vet to arrive at diagnosis. There are of course costs incurred in these procedures.
