Ok, it's not "horrifying" to watch him put that last bullet in the robber who threatened everyone's life. What's horrifying is when we Houstonians find out that some criminal murdered someone (sometimes our officer's) and we find out the murderer was currently out on a low bond or signature bond for another murder case, AND had a LONG history of commiting VIOLENT felonies! That is horrifying! Watching this man protect innocent people was far from horrifying.

I've seen a couple postings about this and you're the first I've seen to say he used excessive force. I'm shocked this has a lot of likes to be honest. In my personal opinion, I agree with you. My reasoning is that obviously the robber was heading towards the door, had his back to the guy that killed him and hadn't even fired a warning shot. Maybe shooting the robber in the leg but firing 9 shots at point blank range? Not justified. The shooter even fled, so even the shooter knew he was in the wrong. You're saying, the thief deserved to be murdered because he committed a criminal act? Where do you draw the line? At some point pretty much everyone has committed a criminal act. This incident won't help deter from future crimes. He deserves a 2nd degree murder charge.

The customer was behind him but the person robbing had the toy pointed at another customer. He was trying to eliminate the threat to everyone else in the restaurant. He did nothing wrong in that moment.

From what I heard on another video he initially shot 8 times and stopped aimed at his head and shot again. That last shot is illegal. The suspect is incapacitated and threat is eliminated. Just remove the weapon and call the police and wait for them. And he would have been Golden, However, the last shot ensuring the death, is to me what is problematic about his action. Also, the fact that he left instead of staying to talk with the police as he should have. Finally, the angle he pointed the gun was in a direct line of sight with another customer at the other wall of the restaurant. If he missed or the bullet went through the man, he could have easily killed another innocent person. Not to mention that it could have went through the wall or out onto the street and killed any number of hypothetical people. Especially with so many shots fired. To be honest the Robber got what he had coming but that doesn't make all of the actions of the shooter justified in my opinion.

If you've never been robbed at gunpoint then you don't know how you would process it. You have no idea if the other person will rob you and still kill you. You don't know if the victim has been a victim before and decided it would never happen again. What we do know is that the robber had already done time for another robbery where someone was killed and was out on bond for domestic abuse. That same day the robber called his mother to tell her he's turning his life around and trying to be good....

I know people are going to say that it's easy to be a Monday morning quarterback, but Kyle Rittenhouse did a PERFECT (fucking text book level) example of controlled self defense. He aimed his rifle only at those approaching him, and only used it when he needed to. He had impeccable trigger discipline and was in a significantly more stressful and emotionally draining situation. And he was like 17 at the time. Kyle was (and is) a good guy with a gun. This taco shop dinner was nothing but a vigilante that saw his chance to kill, and took it.

My father is a licensed handgun instructor, and sometimes he teaches cops and security guards. THEY ARE TAUGHT to deliver kill-shots to head and chest to disable the perpetrator/threat. Because if they don’t, the perpetrator could come back and try to hurt the victims. I’ve never been in this exact situation, and I hope to never be in this situation, but I can tell you from being deployed overseas what it’s like to be shot at, for me at least. The story is too long to tell in great detail, the first time I was shot at by an Iraqi, I had a split second of horror, being scared that I almost died (yes, the shot was that close) THEN I had anger, anger like I had never had in my life. I wanted to make the Iraqi man pay and had I had the opportunity I would’ve shot him back, a lot, possibly until my magazine was empty. Fortunately for me I had a NCO who reigned me in. But even today, almost 20 years later, the anger still rises up in me when I think about it. So, no, I don’t blame the guy for shooting the armed robber that much. He’s just a regular guy, trying to eat tacos when this a-hole comes in to ruin everyone’s day.

My belated, and heartfelt condolences to his family members, relatives, friends, and all of his other love ones during all of their times of bereavement, mourning, and grieving. But the person that defended the restaurant, and all of its customers should not be charged with any crime at all period whatsoever. It is a very unfortunate, and situation.
