At least one person died and dozens of others were injured on May 21, 2024, when a Singapore Airlines flight travelling from London to Singapore was hit by severe turbulence forcing it to divert to Thailand. A 73-year-old British man was confirmed as the fatality, likely from a heart attack, according to officials at the Suvarnabhumi International Airport in Bangkok, where the aircraft made an emergency landing. Seven others were in critical condition.

I get why people are blaming Boeing given their track record in other accidents, but this could have literally happened on any plane. It went through a thunderstorm and experienced extreme turbulence while seatbelt signs were off. How’s that a Boeing-specific problem?

I'm crying for the 73 year old man, like I don't even know him but he was on the way to Australia for a holiday, this usually doesn't happen to Singapore Airlines who are like the number 1 airlines in the world, but amazed at how well the airline, Singapore and Thai government handled it quickly and got the passengers to their destination. But my heart aches so much for Kitchen, rest in peace

All respect to the two pilots for managing and taking control over the situation, this could have become much worse had they not dealt with this as true professionals. The pilots are the true heros here. Imagine having to deal with that and then from gaining control over the plane to landing the plane. They did an amazing job. x

This is awful. Sorry that chap died and to all who suffered through this. Turbulence is the worst! air turbulence is unseen.. as a pilot who has flown in severe turbance it is life threatening. The pilots here have done an outstanding job to control thru this... thankfully only 6000ft. They clearly had no warning otherwise seat belts signs would have been activated, crew notified, and the Capt. would have warned the PAX! It is truly a horrible and horrifying experience especially for passengers and it is NOT any airlines wish to hurt them. It is unreasonable to blame this 777 or Boeing for this meteorological event... you'd have to be mentally deficient! Well done to Singapore Airlines and their crew for managing this awful event.

It is an accident caused mainly by weather. But the most vile netizens on internet are trying to blame it on three entities instead. Nation. Airline company. Plane making company. This accident could have happened to any plane,airline and natuons when they fly into an invisible clear turbulence that cannot be detected by sensors. But that wont made your day right when news are pressented this way? A lot of you need that blame,that spite and that chaos in life in order to get through your day. @gamefreakin 26 күн бұрын
@@AdvancedMath The plane didn't fall 6000 feet. That was miscommunication during the early news about this incident. The 6000 feet descent was after the turbulence already hit. It was a steady 6000 feet decent that took 4-5 minutes (1500 feet per minute, which is stable) and was done by the pilots to avoid the rest of the turbulent weather. This can be seen on the flight radar (the descent happened around 8:06am to 8:10am UTC) and later reports.

This is more than air-pocket. The region is without air ,six thousand feet height and 20 miles wide. Aeroplane get no control because of no upthrust.( This is AIR Tsunami) Get away from the highest temperature regions underneath
@Jerry-JX2906
@Jerry-JX2906 26 күн бұрын
It’s not an air pocket. You don’t just get areas of the sky that don’t have air 😂. What happened was probably wind shear which is a sudden change in wind speed and direction which caused a loss of lift of the wing.

@@Jerry-JX2906 Dear Jerry, 23 MAY 2024 Well, I am glad you interested in it and I got one scholar to chat. We better approached scientifically. Th jet get no uplift and it drops 6000 ft. It will take 144 second to descend. Within the moment, nothing is controlled. In the fuselage, sizzles .The plane had same speed and it travelled 20 miles. (or The low pressure block is 20 miles wide ) My interest is why that air void happens. The event happens above Myanmar country . The ground get recorded high temperature 40 degrees plus for many days. The air at that temperature made a vacuum block , into which the jet enters, Will we try to detect such regions of atmosphere. Do you guys still remember the two Boeing 737 Max 8 jetliner that nose dived and crashed within half a year period, the two Boeing planes that crashed were a Lion Air flight 610 on 29 Oct 2018 and an Ethiopian Airlines flight 302 on 10 Mar 2019 and a total of 346 people were killed. @GWT_A
@GWT_A 26 күн бұрын
Not anyone's fault. Extreme turbulence rarely occurs and for this case is probably undetectable, not with any other plane, not with any other pilot. Seatbelt sign is usually off when the plane stabilizes, but the pilot recommends that people should still use it, this is common in any airlines. No pilot in SQ is crazy enough to intentionally turn off the seatbelt sign if they know this would happen.
