Are you unfamiliar with how adaptations work? Characters get cut and vital details get changed, that's just how it works and there's no reason to assume that she wouldn't have been introduced later. The absence of the character had nothing to do with the series being cancelled, the production company went bankrupt.

@@xxydot Well its not about elitism. It's that most of the time the anime versions cut corners or completly remove important plot point to condense multiple volumes in 23 episodes. Look at Tokyo Ghoul or Full Metal Alchemist (before brotherhood release). Honestly imo the only time I though ".Wow the anime version is better." is for Evangelion.
