Fun fact: the final showdown at the crashed heli-carrier was originally supposed to essentially be a big shoot-out, but they ultimately didn't have enough money to rent all of Deadpool's guns that he collects for that long, so they changed it to him forgetting the guns in the cab, and went from there.

The whole movie is built around the fact they didn't have the budget to do a lot. Like 75% of the film is built around the highway fight, just disguised by all the cuts away. Then the final helicarrier showdown for the big set piece. Everything else is very small scale.

The traditional straight man for Deadpool is a character named Cable, who you will meet in the sequel. For whatever reason, they couldn't get Cable. Someone had the brilliant idea to use Colossus as a straight man. I don't know if anyone did that before, but he's so achingly earnest that it works. Colossus was created during the Cold War to remind Americans that even if our nations are in conflict, the Russian people are people. So Colossus is noble to a fault and achingly earnest (he's a Russian farm boy), but a dedicated communist who happened to believe in Xavier's political cause. Negasonic Teenage Warhead took her superhero name from a real rock song, which is just the dorkiest and most adorable thing ever. That makes it so funny when she tries to act tough and cool. Deadpool gained healing powers when he already had cancer, so the healing powers are constantly restoring his cancer, which spread everywhere. This is why he's disgusted and in constant pain.

When Ryan was filming Blade Trinity someone gave him a Deadpool comic book and in the book some asks Wade what he looks like under the mask. His response was "a mix of Ryan Reynolds and a radioactive shar-pei". Ryan knew he had to play Deadpool. Test footage was shot and sat on a shelf until someone leaked in back in 2014. The fans loved it so much Fox was forced to green light this film.

In real world he'd be a mutanta, but Marvel makes a specific definiton of what a mutant is - born this way (basically having X-gene). Spider-Man is walking on walls, but he's not a mutant. I just thought about this recently. Feels like partly why Ajax/Francis have 'super strength' is because of his ability to not feel pain, so he doesn't feel the muscle strain. That way he can push the muscle output more times than normal. Dude probably had 20 hernias in a week because of the strain and didn't feel it 😂

Your reaction to the IV cracked me up and made me feel bad for you. I started treatments in March so have to have labs and at least 1 IV every 3 weeks.
