The villain is Cassandra Nova. Xaviers twin sister who tried to kill him in the womb by strangling him with the umbilical cord. He fought her off with his nascent psychic powers and she was stillborn as a result. She survived as a cluster of cells clinging to a sewer wall however. Grant Morrison's New X-Men was great.

I'm being entirely honest here: I (generally) ADORE GRANT MORRISON! ...but "Cassandra Nova" is, just: stupid. ...it's basically a new character designed to do the same thing that Claremont & Cockrum decided they wanted to make Jean into (w/the entire "Phoenix"/Hellfire Club/Dark Phoenix hornswoggle.) ...They did it perfectly and, then, Marvel ruined everything by, eventually, bringing Jean back to life. 🙄🙄🤦 Losers. ...and just because a writer thinks "they didn't get it right. The simple and weird explanation of the bald lady is she's Cassandra Nova and was essentially a space demon who took the form of a twin in the womb with Xavier with the intention of replacing him. Baby Xavier killed her in utero. Then, she came back still evil but actually believed herself to be his twin sister and wanted revenge. She then killed millions of mutants. So, Xavier's evil twin basically.

Yeah, it was never Hugh. It was directors and studio people, afraid to embrace the comic bookiness of the costumes. I think Hugh was always down for anything, unless he felt it disrespected the character's history. He learned on the first X-Men just how much Wolverine meant to millions of people, and really embraced that. To finally see him don the iconic suit, after all these years, was incredible. Hollywood learned to stop being afraid of the comic book aesthetic, and we finally got the classic Wolverine.

Thanks to this movie, Hugh Jackman is about to set the Marvel record for longest time span between first and most recent appearance as the same character in a superhero movie. This year marks 24 years since the first X-MEN movie release, where Hugh made his first appearance as Wolverine. If more co-stars from the same movie also cameo, they will share that record with him. As a matter of fact, Hugh Jackman and Patrick Stewart actually held the Guinnes World Record for this specific feat (17 years between X-MEN (2000) and LOGAN (2017)), which was then broken by JK Simmons, Tobey Maguire, and Willem Dafoe thanks to SPIDER-MAN: NO WAY HOME (2021) (the trio first appeared in the 2002 SPIDER-MAN, 19 years earlier) before Patrick Stewart reclaimed the record thanks to MULTIVERSE OF MADNESS (2022) (he extended it to 22 years).

As others have pointed out, the bald woman is Cassandra Nova, essentially Xavier's evil twin sister of sorts. This version of Cassandra Nova is almost certainly from a timeline where she instead killed Charles in the womb. After which, she was ultimately pruned by the old TVA. We know she was pruned by the TVA, because she and the others are in the "Void" where all pruned stuff goes to eventually be erased by Alioth. All of the wasteland shots are in that realm, and that's where Ant-Man's giant body is. Pruned along with whatever timeline that happened in. We know Ant-Man's body is in that place because when DP and Wolvie are jumping into the portal, they're jumping from Ant-Man's left eye socket, and when the perspective flips behind them, Alioth is in the background coming for them. And...honestly, it just makes sense with all the random shit in the wasteland, and the involvement of some version of the TVA. Now...all of that could be clever editing to make it LOOK like something it's not, just like how the portal doesn't show a destination and is just flat-white. Or it could be that whole scene doesn't exist at all and is just there to throw everyone off. But...I don't really think so. Ryan is smart about marketing, and I get the impression from the tone and content that he had a big hand in how this trailer got put together. I think the scene is in the movie, and I think it hasn't been altered at all except for hiding what's on the other side of the portal. Sadly, I'm concerned that the TVA we see in this isn't Loki's TVA...but rather what the TVA was BEFORE Loki. Which...really sucks. But, at the same time, they're attempting to preserve a timeline that clearly isn't the Sacred Timeline (there's NO fucking way Deadpool is part of the Sacred Timeline), so I'm confused as to what's going on. But, we'll find out.

I wouldn't worry about getting caught up on Marvel's last phase. I'm sure they'll explain enough for people who tuned out to get it. If you feel you HAVE to get some context, I suggest only two things as possibly crucial - Spider-Man: No Way Home, and Loki seasons 1 and 2. These set up some crucial world-building AND are also some of the best things Marvel Studios have done so far, so not a chore.

The only thing that disappointed me is that it is not July 26th right now. Just the bits they gave us between the two previews now and imagining what else is in store. I'm a big X-Men dork since childhood though so they don't have to try too hard but they are delivering the goods here. Speaking of when I check your videos my eyes keep pulling to the left looking for that X-Men '97 Gambit because, um, reasons. I stay away from pretty much 95% of marvel after endgame since it’s gone woke. Unfortunately you have to wait for multiple reviews before watching any movie now. Hollywood has turned to sh*t.
