amazing job, ive made an out of box deagostini falcon with some minor weathering. my mind boggles at the level of modelling skill you have.

Thanks Barnagee, did a pretty much out of the box build myself with the first one and that didn't turn out too bad I have to admit. When it comes to details, I'm just a bit bloody minded and my own worst enemy, it usually starts with the good old 'I wonder if...' and that usually where the stupidity and making a rod for my own back starts. And from there it just gets worse. All the best, ILM

I knew the mirror trick, but the way you handled the corridor lights is brilliant! going to steal that idea as I am just arrived at that point in the build!
@IanLawrenceModels7 жыл бұрын
Aye, that mirror trick sure did get popular and why not, get's the job done with a lot less messing about which is how it should be. Oh by all means steal away BNT, that's why I put it out there. All the best, ILM

That mirror is a neat trick! Good work on the lighting too. You, sir, know how mod.

Thanks Rafenwulf, I think I really only came up with the mirror thing to save me some work. Which it did so it's all good. Take care, ILM

Very nice, I keep meaning to have a go at the cargo hold too with my 3D printer :-) looks like you nailed the STL's
@IanLawrenceModels8 жыл бұрын
Thanks David, it's working out pretty much as I'd hoped so far. Still a fair distance to go and as soon as other work is done, i'll get back to it. The printer has certainly been a help and a time saver. All the best, ILM

I've recently started to buy the issues for this model and cant wait to get stuck in and build it. Having watched a host of youtubers who have modified their models, I must say I'm really determined to fit additional lighting packs to the hull and cockpit. I'm not electronically minded though. Is there anywhere you recommend that would help with how to do these add-ons or is it something you've learnt to do yourself/or through your job?

There are a bunch of 'how to' tutorials out there on the web and more than a few here on youtube I suspect. Get your Google-Fu on and go hunting, you'll find 'em. As for me, it is something that was pretty much self taught in a way (though not without the help of a book or three on electronics and lighting circuits) in the way back when. As soon as I got a grasp of the how, I just started off by having a go. Slowly the failures turned to successes and so it went on. I whish you the best with your build. It's quite somethng to have a big ass Falcon sitting in front of you and more so when it's you who's built it. All the best, ILM

Awesome! I´m starting the collection, here in my country it just came out... but i have a few questions - What software did you use for floor modeling? - What did you use to remove 1 mm from the surface?
@IanLawrenceModels7 жыл бұрын
Hi Jos and thanks!To answer in turn:I used Rhino 4 to get the hold deck pieces.I used a 6mm diameter end mill in a drill pressAll the best and good luck with your build, ILM
