I’m absolutely loving Dale’s positivity here. It’s so obvious how much this game meant to him. I also admire the fact that he didn’t let his disability hold him back in anyway, which is exactly as it ought to be. Well done Dale mate. We all salute you!!

Thanks so much for posting this james. After 12 years I remember that this was such a wonderful programme throughout. He was a fantastic player regardless of the result. Such super interactions with his family, the other players and the banker. The look Noel gives him 15:42 says it all and the editing towards the end is sublime. One of the best single TV programmes I’ve ever seen. Should have won a BAFTA.

Gowan Dale, love this episode glad he got the 100k, but I'm trying to find the Thinking Music when it gets to the 26k offer because it just recently played In the latest Episode of Deal on ITV and still love that serious vibe to that thinking music at such a tight offer.

The banker brought it on himself for lowballing the players so hard. This UK banker's strategy cranks out a large number of players going all the way, while a smaller percentage of the players who chicken out sacrifice a larger percentage of fair value. The fact that the UK banker has no qualms about offering half of fair value, and even less, in the final rounds, means he forces the players to take more risk.

Lol the banker works for the production company, he wants views, his low ball offers are for entertainment purposes, he wants players to risk it

Firstly the OG Banker was the producer, the same one that made Pointless for the BBC. Secondly baring that in mind, it makes for better T.V when they go for it. Dale's mother was wrong, people don't remember the ones who walk out with £26,000 at the right time, people remember the players who had the courage to go on to win the £75,000, the £100,000 and most of all the those who fired the confetti.

£26,000 was a poor offer. In November 2005, the first season of the show, Jennifer was left with £250,000 and £750. She was offered £120,000, which she took. Like her, Dale played very bravely right through to the end and, at that stage, he should have been offered more like £50,000. Probably, the banker became more devious as the years went on and offered less to try to tempt the player to go on.
@doolan0543 Жыл бұрын
Two things, £26,000 is the most common offer that is dealt. Second, the banker's offers are based on his feelings towards the player and the box. The higher he offers, then the more he believes the box on table has higher money. There have been later examples when the banker has offered £100k with the £250k and lower reds or blues.
