I just did the math behind Deal or No Deal Deluxe. Assuming every wedge has the same chance of getting hit, the average expected value of the spin is 368.75 tickets, but it costs 400 to play (If you play Double Deal it gets much worse). Still, it is a LOT more fun going for the big prize. 31.25 tickets is a small price to pay for the opportunity to win 2,000. If you could find a Deal or No Deal Deluxe game with a top non-wheel prize of less than 368.75 with the EXACT same wheel odds, spinning the wheel would be mathematically favorable.

If you slow down the video to .25 and follow the case you can see that it is possible to track it. I was suspicious at first and thought that maybe they just rigged it so you couldn't get the right case until it was ready to pay out but I guess not.
