Since Joe songs often have some deeper layer interpertations I was wondering about this song. The lyrics in the bridge sections certainly lend to not being in the greatest mental health. So my thinking is the song isn't necessarily about a girl named Violet, but rather Violet in the sense of the darkest part of the rainbow. So maybe the song is about the dark thoughts, and all the references to keeping it around and loving it are also the inability to escape the darkness once you're in it.
