The wiring would get beat up from being stomped on and moisture tracked in would cause corrosion, they were always shorting out. You be driving @ night and hit the dimmer and ALL your lights would go out because a fuse would blow. They were bad news.

No, you actually don't. The floor plans all rusted out around that switch and it was a common failure point because the switch is exposed to the elements underneath so they corroded and rotted. They were just cheap tin.

@@muskokamike127 Exactly. I've had them short out and loose ALL my lights on a back country road on a dark night when I hit the dimmer. Very scary @ 60mph and everything goes black in front of you.

Craig, you have a rare gem. A small transmission problem is not a big drama in the scheme of things. Run a strong magnet covered in thin cloth over the lower body areas to see if you have an excess of bondo anywhere. Floor button for the headlight dimming was common on older cars of that era. BTW, we have seen this car in the workshop in your previous video, so this one must be out of sequence?

Love the vids where you interact with your grandfather. You can't say that you were burned if you didn't look the car over before bidding on it. Just like buying a car from copart without the keys, you stay away from anything that you can't drive or start up unless it is a price that assumes it doesn't run. Good on you that you are doing well enough that you can bid on stuff without looking them over and using a scan tool on them and take losses.
