That happened to me last night. I was playing my p-51h and there was nothing but ju-288s, and there was one left and 3 of us left. He kept circling his airfield like an ac-130, such a scummy move. I eventually came down on him at 450mph and set both his engines on fire, and they immediately went out but then my teammates came in and cleaned him up. The match took an extra 10 mins

I just go high and since you usually play against the Germans, I try to force any 109s and 190s down so they can't boom and zoom my team. And then by the time I've gotten to the first 109 I look down and see I no longer have a team. God I love this game.

Don't forget the p38s that climb better than a p47 and still get airspawns. Also the f84, which could take off back when it got ground spawn just fine, but they gave it an airspawn, and made the AF longer to accommodate modern jets but it still starts in the air. It had no reason to start in the air back then and definitely not now lmao

wyvern s4 is kinda a ufo in 4.0 too, climb like a rocket and have a adamantine airframe. Even when I hit it with 23mm from il-10 the wyrvern eat it.

I've come to realize that if you drop your fear of them, 99 percent of players in them can't actually fight they just bought a really good plane that allows you to be high up so that means if you make them use their brain in the slightest they will always just fuck up and let you out play them

I hate fighting XP-50's either the pilots a complete rookie or someone who's so terrified of getting into a fight if u so much as get within 1.5km of them they just run back to their airfield. i just typically avoid the XP-50's BR bracket, it's one of those planes that just sucks the fun out of the game.

Fw 190: XP-50 compresses alot at high speed, so in this plane you need to make them go faster in order to equalize the manueverability. Don't use flaps unless emergency, you need that energy when they try to fly away with their speed to get the killshot La-7: La7 turns well but would still lose a dogfight with xp-50 most likely, lower the throttle and stick close to the XP, give him the confidence that he can shoot you. Throttle up instantly when he overshoots upon you. Zero: If you're at an energy disadvantage in a zero, instead of turning immediatally, try to stick close to him whilst not breaking apart like a toothpick, don't scare him away into a zoomclimb too soon. Zero can hang very well if they try to zoomclimb away but xp will ultimatelly just have that much energy, break off try to get some speed and reset the reversal before it's too late, soon the XP will run out of energy. Spitfire: YOU ARE NOT A ZERO. You cannot outturn everything so you need to be more careful only use flaps on top of a loop, aim for tight rolling scissors, when the XP realises he won't win, go full wep and try to lead for them and only use flaps if you can't get that shot. 109: You are unable to do much avoid dogfighting XP in a 109, use same tactic as LA7 and bring them to high speed. You need to use every single fucking thing to try to not get shot down/make them overshoot, the flatspin in the video was nice but that's only if you have nothing left and no options. C202: Same story, but you're more maneueverable, high speed and make him compress. BF 110: Not really an actual method available, XP does everything better then you except red line speed.

@@chan1william in a BF 110? Not really, I tried and got absolutely fked. In a BF 109 though if you have a bit of altitude shallow dive, let thr XP go for you, avoid shoots and when you see that it won't pull guns on you use the pitch to slow down, it will work great but you have to turn on WEP quick after the airbrake to try get guns on it.

@@Galaxy-oy4nj Get the XP-50 below 4km. Below 4km the Yak-3 is better than the XP-50 in every metric but dive limit. Don't ever take the Yak-3 above 4.5km ever unless you are chasing slow bombers. If you see an enemy plane above you drag it down to sub 4km and then dunk on it. The only exception is Spits and Japanese where you have to stick to hit and run tactics.

They always ruin your match when you're climbing in your fighter and they're somehow above you because of the airspawn, making you dive and either side climb again or get eaten by the legion of noobs approaching you from belos

One of the most satisfying fights I had back in the day was when I took the Japanese Bf109E-3 (yes back when it was an E-3 not an e4 it e7 or whatever it I rn) And I managed to out fight one of those things at about 2000-3000 metres. The xp-50 has been far less scary ever since.

The MB 157 is one of the few planes that can actually catch them at altitude, while it can't beat them in the sheer climbrate, you can stick with them through anything but a zoom climb if you're near their energy state when engaged. The only limiting factor is your low ammo count but this can be solved by just using really low convergence and either Air Targets or Stealth belts as a single HE round will either kill the pilot, shoot off a tail or wing, or kill an engine. Unlike the other planes you actually want them to get into a low energy state simply because of how much faster you turn. Also you can dive faster than them if you really need to get away.

It's like playing against T-72TURMST, IKV 91, PT-57-76 or anything in ground RB, that can go anywhere quickly and cause pain (even on long range). Any eXPerimental blip you see as a slow bomber or middle of the road fighter at high alt spells a one way ticket to the hangar for you. And by you, I mean me, until now. For arcade: Turn and use flap. Average XP-50 player combined with average arcade player, he will try to dog fight everything without flap, full WEP, and overall will miss all of his shot. Just be careful in case he is slighty intelligent and use stealth belt

simulation steering, he keybinded it so he can change from normal steering to sim steering (no instructor, so you can do very dangerous maneuvers, recovering from that in sim would be pain, but here all he had to do is to turn on normal steering and voilà, instructor saves your ass.)

played 3.3 Chinese Ki-44 once, saw an XP-50 at a distance. upon closing the distance and seeing his manouvers, i thought i would only get a hit on first pass, just before i pull the trigger, he put his cockpit right infront of my gun. what a nice guy edit: i think you can still win against xp 50 in a 109 G6 & F4 (clean without gunpods), though i need to play more 109s to confirm that

from my experience co-alt only if you are in a G6. Xp50 does turn better than both the F4 and G6, but G6 can outclimb it down low, while being a little bit faster. What usually happens is that you get dived on by Xp50, what you do have over him is that you roll better, so you can force overshoot and go for the shot.

man seriously… I’ll fly out an XP-50 every so often for SL and it’s definitely OP, but it’s not invincible. My rule is if I see an opportunity the target gets one hard turn and the moment it becomes clear I’ll not get guns on I’m out. The XP has good acceleration but bad high speed handling and bad roll rate, on top of that it’s a huge target so getting into knife fights isn’t a good plan. Pick a target you have an energy advantage over, attack to force an evasion and loss of energy, loop around and repeat until you kill the target or it dives away.

I was pretty scared of these planes when I was just getting started in the game but then I realised you can out turn them in just about anything. Also, a lot of the pilots I encountered got stuck at low altitude where you can easily bleed them out. If they are staying high, they can be a threat if you don't see them coming and going head-on with them is a definite no-no.

@@masonreppeto882 No, it isn't. The clipped wings reduce it's wing load, thus making it turn much worse, to the point where you turn about as well as a Fw-190A. It's also not fast enough to catch much, it's weaponry is mediocre and it's energy retention horrible. In other words, it's a spit that tries to be a Fw-190 without having any of the qualities that make a 190 good. It has no place in the game, seeing as it can't outturn anything it can actually catch. So basically, it can't turnfight, or energy fight. It's an awkward middleground that doesn't do anything well.

Nice play as usual! Also, I would like to add sth that is xp50 has high speed lockup issue: it locks up BEFORE the signs of "you are too fast" such as shaking and squeaking. Some cute xp50 players will just dive carelessly until they want to pull up.... Yesterday I was in my ta154, one xp50 tried to dive attack me when I was also diving. I managed pulled up but he couldn't 🤣 For xp50 players, you have speed, you have energy, why not just pulled away, take a turn and attack again? xp50 is the most op interceptor and the worst interceptor for players to develop good habits.

This is what happens if gaijin give away stats like they want , this thing outturns light fighter's . Sure it has a lower wingload than these planes , but it has two 600kg engines sitting outside the center of mass . You can't just use only the wingload to choose the turnrate/time of a plane , or a empty B17 would outturn a Biplane . 😅

The xp50 has a great acceleration and bad roll rate, so the xp50 can compress quite fast and it can't really roll. Giving an ez reversal on noobs. I once reversed an xp 50 in a bf 109 full uptiered

I remember when xp-50 just came out, I was abusing the fuck out of it. Then compression hammered it a bit but it wasn't a big deal. I was sticking to flying no less than 3k meters. Often I was the last surviving plane on the team but it was alright. It felt good fighting against 3-4 planes. It got boring pretty soon cuz no one knew wtf they were doing, occasionally I would get a good pilot and those moment were the reason I used to love war thunder so much. It felt satisfying to play against someone who knows how to play.
