I heart you too! And thank you. Corpse Lily is about a father who never spends time with his family, until his secretary points out a cross on the side of the road. Her daughter died there, in an automobile accident. That small symbol of tragedy reveals the error of his ways, and he works his ass off to regain his relationship with his wife and kids. That's why it's titled Corpse Lily. Because something beautiful grew from the tragedy of his secretaries daughter's death

THE TAKING is my daughter's favorite Dean Koontz novel. I think STRANGERS is my own favorite. My wife preferred COLD FIRE above any other DK novel. We all agree that FROM THE CORNER OF HIS EYE is another great one. Steven King was my favorite writer until I came across my first DK novel, LIGHTNING. I immediately preferred Koontz's style over King. The main reason being King has no qualms about killing off "good" characters while Koontz is more likely to spare them. Thanks for the great review on TCOHE. It's really hard not to discuss the story farther here but I don't want to spoil it for anyone else.

I feel like _Elsewhere_ is a spiritual companion piece to this one.

I feel like Koontz is mostly thriller/sci-fi

He’s definitely thrilled, and several of his books, the Frankenstein series for example, read like sci fi to me. He’s well rounded and I love his simple, straight forward approach
