"I hear you whipser that you love me..." Funnier than what he did the first time on Colgate... :) (& it didn't hurt meeting his old 5 Card Stud pal in the closet either) :)

Dean made everything so effortless. breezy and at the same time memorable with his famous charm and warm velvet voice. He was so good. His talent was on loan from God Almighty.

I agree, it would have easily been the TV highlight of the year and perhaps one of the all-time memorable moments in TV history. Probably still too much competitve spirit between the two of them at this time - 1968 for them to pull it off though. There really was never any feud between them just professional competitiveness.

It was supposed to be a straight romantic song, but he went with the on-air slip-up, laughed it off, and continued with the song.

What a great singer, what a great performer Dean Martin was. He is so cool that he makes the mistake sound cool. It is interesting to note that Dean made reference to Jerry in this segment at a time when both were going strong, but now Jerry has recently passed on, so now he joins Dean in the afterlife.

Did he ever sing a song straight? I'm just kidding, but I've rarely heard him sing a song the way it was written. Too much fooling around.

Yes, he did. Especially in his later years

Yes, when he was with Jerry, he really sang from his heart. After the breakup with Jerry Greg Garrison made him a television personality. And Dean stopped "being" a singer". You're right, he seemed to mock every song he sang, it was unbearable. Listen to "Young and Folish" from the "Martin & Lewis" era just as an example and then make the necessary comparisons. kzbin.info/www/bejne/hovYlKp6jNmEnbc

@@jerrylewisthekid5479 I agree with you. At some point, Dean decided to be a comedian, as well as, a singer. Sometimes, it was hard to take his singing seriously.
