Dean Wilson | Two-Strokin'

Recently, we linked up with former Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Champion Dean Wilson to let him take our TWMX KTM 150 SX for a spin around Pala Raceway’s main track. As some may recall, Wilson was featured in TWMX Premix aboard another 150 SX, so we’re guessing the likable Scotsman didn’t get enough last year. So you can *have fun*, and still have money doing it lol. And even if you're a part of the 1% planning on making it to the pros, 2 stroke will make you a better rider, and will let you use your money for other expenses than just bike maintenance. Ask McGrath, Carmichael, Stewart or Reed if learning how to ride on a 2 smoker has made them any bad.

Don't misunderstand my comment zack. I never said 4 stroke were bad. Cooper Webb was already a top amateur supported by Redbull and Honda when he was on the 150. Budget was clearly not an issue for him. He already had free bikes, a lot of sponsors and a mechanic. So yes, in his situation why not make the most of it and start riding a 4 stroke early. Btw, i don't think he had any advantage with it in the supermini class, as Cianciarulo was constantly beating him. But yeah, now he is clearly on another level.

Justin F the future is now. Just like tesla is the fastest car on the road, electric bikes will be the fastest on the track when the fast guys ride them. The handling and tracking is next level. Just like thumpers, however, the public will hate them before they embrace them. In the meantime, those of us about to go electric have at least a few years to sandbag our classes before (like 2 strokes), thumpers go the way of the dinosaur. Praise Elon Musk, AMEN!

Another dirtbiker open to the evolution of electric bikes? I never thought I'd see the day. I'm liking what Alta motors are achieving with the Redshift and I really hope a big company like KTM put some real money into electric bike development. Interesting times ahead.

thats the beauty of a 2 stroke, it looks, feels and sounds like you are going freaking lightspeed.. in reality modern 4 strokes are pretty competitve though. although generally a 250 2t vs 250 4t the 2t has more power on paper.. its not quite what it used to be when a 125 2t was as fast or faster than a 250 4t etc. but 2t's are still pretty damn quick. and despite the advances in 4 stroke mx bikes, i will still always choose 2 stroke, its just far far far more rewarding to ride. i own a 2001 cr 125 and im still loving it.
