Zwischen zwei Zwetschenzweigen sitzen zwei zechenschwarze tschechisch zwitscherende Zwergschwalben is even hard to write. And I did not forget a 'g' in Zwetsche, I'm from the South and we don't need that letter in our Zwetschen - they are fine without.

I think "In Ulm und um Ulm und um Ulm herum" (and you have missed the important 'unds'!) is only the beginning. I've seen different versions how it could continue (like "bummeln pummelige Hunde um Ulmer Ulmen herum"), but nothing really satisfying.

The color of red cabbage changes with the way it's cooked. Depending on regional cuisine it can indeed more blue-ish than deep red.
@arthur_p_dent
@arthur_p_dent 2 жыл бұрын
it also depends of the ground where the red cabbage is grown, the color of the red cabbage gives away the ph value of the ground, the more acidic the bluer, the more basic the redder. or vice versa, I always keep confusing this
@CookingWithCows
@CookingWithCows 2 жыл бұрын
Yeah the other way around. Acid red, basic blue. The color also changes based on the cooking process. If you add vinegar, lemon etc, it turns red,.if you add baking soda it turns blue. Same thing with other red/blue colored vegetables like blue butterfly pea tea.
@norbertzillatron3456
@norbertzillatron3456 2 жыл бұрын
Red Cabbage actually can be bluish when it grows in alkaline soil. It turns red when treated with acid (like vinegar) or growing in more acidic soil. The molecules responsible for the color act similar to litmus (Lackmus).

Outside of foreign loanwords, the German "z" is always pronounced like "ts" in English, such as at the beginning of words like "tsunami" or "tsar" (compare with German equivalent "Zar"). The German "w" is always pronounced like "v" in English. Hence, "zw" in German becomes "tsv" in English and thus "Zwetschgen" is pronounced "tsvetsh-ghen". Beyond this, Deana's German "r" and "ch" (there are 3-4 varieties) sounds need improvement. You got work to do, Phil. ;)

if you cut Blaukraut in small chunks and put them into a bowl of water, the water will be dyed blue. Also you can manipulate the color of the cooked cabbage depending if you season it mostly with salt or with wine (or something sour).

Maybe a bit late for a response... but red cabbage has different colours, depending on the PH. Up north, red cabbage is generally cooked at an acidic PH, which results in red colour. Down south it is cooked at an alkaline PH, which results in a more bluish colour.

Yeah. I learned German 30 years ago by being immersed in it because ABSOLUTELY no one, other than my German partner, spoke English - and she was gone working in Paris for at least five days of every week. One of my most vivid learnings at the time was that American English is incredibly “lazy” when it comes to using your facial muscles when you speak. For months my jaw and cheeks ached from the exercise they were getting as I painfully (literally) learned correct pronunciation of German words. Then, 20 plus years ago, I moved to Sweden to live permanently with the man who became my Swedish husband. I absolutely refuse to attempt writing my pronunciation of the Swedish words which I first learned by reading the direction signs on the way to our destinations. But I can give you a few examples of the words themselves: sjö (lake); sju (the number ”7”); sjuksköterska (nurse); Växsjö and Kristianstad (names of cities). I bet you anything that you believe you can easily say that last city name, but you would be wrong!
