Deanna Durbin once again transports with a beautiful voice, fine technique, and heartfelt sincerity. Singing of this quality does not exist in the film world anymore, and frankly, rarely in the opera world either.

The stability and purity of tone of her voice throughout its range. The innocence and authority of her interpretation, astonishing for an 18 year old. It floods the mind with its beauty and melancholy.

I need to come back to this every now and again, if only to remind myself that there is still some Beauty and Truth in the world. God Bless Deanna Durbin for her unwitting communications through her beautiful, angelic voice, and the Scotts for their haunting and timeless music - the Angels are with us still. Amazing how 21st century technology is working its magic.

I wish my father were alive now. He then could have enjoyed KZbin clips of Deanna Durbin and many talented entertainers he found when he was so young. Times have changed and we are experienceing miracle through technology. What a wonderful world despite all the unchanged problems. I am enjoying Deanna with my father in heaven. Deanna's magic is she truly feels every song. She is not acting, she is not performing, she is living the song. True also of her films. She believes every word she is saying, every situation in which she is acting; that's an ability that cannot be learned. The heart is either there or it isn't.

I couldn't agree more! We sometimes listen to a modern song and think it's somewhat ok or good ...but when we here something like this ...WOW! This is music! and poetry! and beauty! and real passion! (not the vulgar filth today) I love the Irish and Scottish songs, they are so passionate and poetic.

Frankly one of the greatest folk songs of all time...on the vocal front: just been gushing on Deanna's version of 'Danny Boy' so won't repeat...but the love & compassion for the subject matter in her interpretation of the song is just so moving & inspiring for modern singers...all round marvellous, thanks for posting!

Such a talent what a voice. Up their amongst the greats. Denna Durbin Judy Garland and Kathryn Grayson showed that even thou the studio systems of the thiries and forties were flawed and destroyed numerous careers and lives the end product more times then not was epic. So I salute you icons for your timeless classics and immeasurable talents.

I sang this for my schools cabaret night. I was always in choir and always loved to sing but I was always the shy quiet girl in the back who would refuse to sing infront of people, so you can Imagine everybodys surprise when I started singing this on the stage. My Grandmother came from Scotlnd and asked me to sing this when she dies. I love her and this song so much.

The double-chinned guy with the glasses is the famed character actor S. Z. "Cuddles" Sakall, who was in (among many other movies) "Casablanca." The guy with the cigar sitting next to him is another famous actor, Walter Pidgeon. (He was also Dr. Morbius in "Forbidden Planet.")

Oh wow... she is SO gorgeous in this scene. Her hair suits her face very well like that. And of course she sing this amazingly- that goes without saying! You know, it is sad that she left show business after such a relatively short time (leaving a mere 22 films for us to survive on!), but I am almost glad she did leave Hollywood and all before it ruined her (she left it because she hated what it was becoming), like it did so many other actors and actresses. She sure had her head on straight...
