Listen, I think Dean is the chosen one to bridge the gap/really break into America. No one has been able to do it in a long term way. His sound, the collaborations he has chosen to do from zico to mila j is very smart. I think some of the music coming out of kpop recently has a really special sound. as an American fan of kpop for almost 10 yrs. I really think everyones whose been sleeping on music coming out of south korea is about to wake up real soon!!!

I think the reason why Se7en flopped because the song with Lil Kim was not good (I know she is one of the most respected female rappers but I don't think picking her as a feature was not a good choice because not a lot of ppl were checking for her anyway). Also YG's promo sucked. They left the poor dude out in the dust and barely tried. But I see what you're saying: the US rarely ever gives Asians are chance to shine in the music industry. I think Dean's sound is very appealing but I do agree that his looks may be part of why a lot of Americans are open to listening to him (I also think the fact that he doesn't have a strong Korean accent when he sings in English may be a factor too). lol he certainly does look kinda mixed.

I am so proud that dat young talented is south Korean. No other K POP artists before DEAN was spotlighted. Except Psy. But Psy was kind of issue maker and I don't think that his music was loved but his sensational character was loved. Not same as Psy, Dean is super possible to success as a mainstream Korean- R&B singer in USA. His musics are unique and it's hard to find that kind of music all around the world. He is now already a superstar in South Korea but it will be soon to see him as a grammy-nominated artist in states. I'm Korean so it's really hard to explain in English that how much DEAN is genius but trust me, new Asian King is coming right now. Be alert US musicians.
