Let's be honest. Beyoncé is an incredible performer and singer, and we would never take that away from her. We love her, but the truth is, she has never been particularly relatable or strong in branding. House of Dereon, fragrance (Heat), Ivy Park… Rihanna, on the other hand, built her empire with makeup, haircare, lingerie, Puma shoes, and more, becoming a billionaire in the process. It’s hard to understand why Beyoncé waited until now to start focusing on branding, especially since she’s not as personable. Her privacy and reserved nature may have hindered her branding efforts, making people love Beyoncé the performer but not necessarily the brand. It feels a bit extreme you just had a tour, country album, cecred perfume, behind the scenes movie, haircare line, and now whiskey it seems like a lot is going on and all over the place. 💛

If she chose ONE major passion project to put her heart, time, and actual presence into, the way Rihanna did with Fenty Beauty, she probably wouldn't have all these business flops. Rihanna is THE makeup lady now, it's clear that she is at the heart of her brand. She's on the ad for every new drop, Fenty is clearly her baby and she takes pride in every product that comes out. And the products speak for themselves (I would know, Fenty has been running through my pockets like the Tomb Raider for years and I'm not even mad.) Rihanna has been able to branch out to include skin and hair BECAUSE of the success of her makeup line. I definitely think she is much more passionate about makeup and beauty than music at this point, and it's more than a cash grab for her. But the way Beyonce mostly uses her star power to promote the new things she is selling just shows she is more dependent on her fanbase to buy it than truly trying to appeal to the masses. Her business ventures seem to come and go for that reason. She sends out a few PR packages, posts a few stories...the quiet mystique thing is not working in her favor when it comes to selling products. I love her, but I'm not going to keep buying just to line her pockets. Cecred is a staple in my hair routine because it's truly a high quality product. If she leaned harder into it and invested more of her love and presence into it, it would sell even better. But you can't treat people like an income stream and expect them to keep your business afloat just because you're Bey. It's feeling a little greedy.
@shannonsmith75092 ай бұрын
Yuuuup everything you said girl! I was like hold on not too much on Rih, Fenty Beauty is still her passion and her baby and it shows. She was one of the first celebs to successfully pivot into beauty, changed the game with shade inclusion, and everybody else is just trying to follow her blueprint at this point. She’s still heavily featured in the branding/marketing and the products are quality. Like you said, I don’t mind coming up off some coin if I know I’m getting my moneys worth and the business feels intentional and genuine.
