I get that many of us already know the story since it's a massively successful broadway musical but making musicals into movies is introducing it to a whole new audience that doesn't know the story. This trailer is basically the movie in 3.5 minutes. Movie creators, please stop giving away your whole movie in the trailer. It ruins it for a lot of new audiences.

That's fair, but I think the talent Ben brings to the table acting and singing wise is definitely worth it. It is his role, after all, it makes sense they would cast him either way, he made it what it is. I wouldn't call it weird that he specifically reprises and the rest of the cast isn't, I feel he was the one out of all of them that is really irreplaceable, and bringing well known actors to the other characters roles definitely helps. And technically the actor playing Connor was the original understudy for Evan, Connor, and Jared, so it's nice to see him in the movie too.

just the trailer that kept showing on tv got me tearing a bit each time. it reminded me so much of me in school. i'm 70 now and the previews really brought out the hidden memories. when i ate alone or waited alone for a class bell it didnt bother me then because that was my normal i was nervous on my way to the theater to see it. i almost turned around but kept going. maybe i thought i'd be broken after seeing it. i teared a lot, some nervous breathing identical to Evan confronting Connor when he hollered at him . later i watched more youtube clips and i went back 3 weeks later to see it without any tensions. a great movie.

I saw Ben in the original production of DEH. I cried from the opening number until I was walking out the exit of the theater. I’m crying now after watching this trailer for the movie. Theater concession stands better stock lots of tissue boxes!! Ben is incredible. A voice for the ages.
