I’m born 2008 (16) I hate this situation, I feel so sorry for them, they didn’t get the chance to like live a real childhood and now no one of us like lives lives, because we’re all trapped on our phones scrolling on social media comparing ousrselves, finding our asthetic, beauty type, and (if we have the right content) wanting to become the best version of ourselves (ok, that’s good). But well I think through social media becoming the best version of yourselves means dieting (I’m talking about for example wonyoungism right now) as I said if you have the right content. But then, like, we don’t all have the same feed and interests and that’s completely alright, we love individuality, but then there are these trends that everyone wants to follow, where I think “this isn’t individuality anymore”. Not to hate on people, who participate in trends, but I see everyone who participates in trends as people, who don’t know who they are and are trying to find themselves (which is completely ok), but like trends come and go and I know that if you know who you are you don’t need to participate in trends, still a good thing about trend is that they create a community (kinda), but like not a good one, because for example the clean girl trend, let us imagine someone sees on TikTok like a girl who films her morning routine. Everything perfect, everything clean. The person who watches that short video will think “oh nooo, why am I not like that? Her room is so clean and pretty.” (smth like that idk 😭😭). So it’s like a community, with like comparing. Oh and then we have Spotlight, Shorts, Reels and TikTok, TikTok is toxic. Short videos are toxic, sure they can be helpful, they can give you a lot of good information in a short amount of time, yay, well yeah, a big but, cause I think most content is like seeing other (very pretty) people just being pretty or dancing which leads to comparison (again) or something toxic. Yeah well short videos shortens the attention span (I think a good amount of people now that already). Oh and TikTok breaks the music industry, it shortens the songs, because we have this viral dance/part and when we listen to music, we actually don’t want to hear the entire song, we only want to hear the great part, we heard on TikTok, Shorts or Reels. This leads to Artists making shorter songs. (2:45 of smth like that) songs used to be overrrr 4 minutes 😭😭 yeahhh, i don’t think I have more to say, thank youuu if you read till here, this was a very long text :D lots of love from me
@txr4lovesu

I’m really not hating on people, who participate in trends, I used to too. I wish you all the best. I just wish that we could all have already found our individuality and embrace it, I want us to respect each other, we don’t need to like each and every one, but respect. I just want everyone to be reunited again, since we’re all kind of drifting apart. Since Individuality is good, but when Individuality or too much self-love (Self-love is great, learn to love yourself

we're trying to be "older" because older people constantly discredit us and reduce our feelings because of our age and beauty standards come down the harshest on us due to not just social media, but our peers as well. but honestly, as a 13 year old (14 in december), i find doing my makeup and skincare in the morning relaxing. i find doing tiktok dances fun. yes some things that gen alpha does are problematic, but we have to remember where we came from as well. we were also told we were rushing to grow up, we did stuff older people would frown upon, and honestly i hate how on social media all i see is constant dogging on gen alpha, ESPECIALLY the girls
@folkloreswiftie13
@folkloreswiftie13 2 ай бұрын
It’s not that young kids are doing anything wrong, but the way Gen Alpha is being raised will cause problems in the future. Kids who get phones at 5 or 6 years old and are constantly on social media can be easily impressionable, and many parents these days are essentially raising their kids off of phones and iPads. It may be fun to do, but the constant flow of entertainment doesn’t give children time to be bored and to be creative, or to behave like a child at all.

@Benzenediol
@Benzenediol 2 ай бұрын
As a 17 year old, all I can tell you is that gen Z treats Gen alpha with unneeded hostility, not all of gen alpha are the same and just because some kids watch skibidi toilet doesn’t mean that they’re destined to be abnormal/bad, they’re just kids being kids. As for the kids who go to Sephora and trash it, not everyone falls under that stereotype, there’s nothing to apologize for. And some of the younger kids today do in fact experience a more normal childhood, it’s just that people are obsessed with stereotyping. Keep enjoying your childhood and don’t care about conforming to beauty standards and about having high end makeup/skincare/clothes. I’ve worn makeup earlier this year but it doesn’t really feel comfortable to me and I couldn’t care less about the brand of my clothing, don’t let these meaningless things influence you.

You’re spot on. I have twin daughters who are 6. I don’t even let them have social media and it still gets to them through other kids and society. I’m genuinely scared of what their tween/ teenage years are going to look like. There’s so much pressure on young women and girls that I didn’t have to deal with. Being a tween/teenage girl has always been a difficult time. It’s being exacerbated on such a large scale. As a parent I don’t agree with what’s happening. It’s easy to say don’t let your kids be part of this culture but it’s easier said than done. Kids are under pressure at school to conform. Girls can be very mean and if they’re the only child who doesn’t fit in they’re likely to be bullied. It’s a hard situation to navigate. I don’t see it getting better anytime soon.

As a gen alpha, I am so SICK of my generation. First, I don’t even get these trends. They’re all put on generation alpha because they’re more vulnerable. The Stanley Cups, Skincare, Makeup, Phones, and Clothes are how you get friends now. Second, when gen alpha tries to act their age, they get bullied by their peers and older generations by being too “childish”. When they try to act more mature, they get pressed, again, by the older generations say that they’re being too “mature”. Lastly, not all of gen alpha, but a lot, don’t know how to live their own life because of the words stated above, so of course they go for things that they see everyday. The parents, kids, the people on the internet, and even strangers have to step it up, because everyone is pointing fingers. That’s all I have to say. Have a nice rest of your day.

Funnily enough, looking at our middle school yearbooks, we all look a little funky, even the popular girls. I had a talk with my little sister after this, and she told me that the reason, her and some of her friends acted a little bit like this (meaning they were like the sephora kids but not as addicted,and they liked make up and dressing like Gen Z,) is because most of them have older siblings, who are Gen Z’s and they look up to them, and they want to be like them, and they see kids they’re age fulfilling their dreams, so they want to try it as well. And my sister had parental lock on her ipad, so if she downloads any apps my parents have to approve of it first, so she has no social media apart from Snapchat where most of her friends chat, (she’s 10 turning 11 in a few days), and she sees people making fun of her generation, and calling them “brain rot” and what not, and she’s part of the older kids in her generation, and she doesn’t act like most people in her gen, (her friends included) although they are usually behind screens, she chats A LOT with her friends, and even makes new ones on her games. And she said that to her advantage, she looks older than how she actually is, which is partially true, so she pretends to be 13 sometimes, which i always tell her not to,(and she’s slowly stopping), but ppl always make fun of her for the Gen she was born in and she really hates it, so i think that’s why some of the older Gen Alpha’s act like that, but i can’t speak for all of them. (I don’t have a little sister, I *am* the little sister)

As a millenial I will say I feel genuinely bad for gen alpha and gen z because there is no such thing as “tween” anymore. All the stores like claires,justice, limited too, etc that were amazing for tweens. Now they are now super adult or kid only. I am so glad I grew up with the “tween” era especially with the overs3xualization of these younger girls. I feel so bad for them because it is honestly subtle grooming without people realizing it. It’s also great place for predators. Also girls PLEASE stop doing retinol, vitamin c serums, etc it will literally ruin your endocrine system and your skin when you reach an older age it does not reverse your age. Social media is def a big issue too. Just be a teen and be a kid! Growing up too fast like I did has a Lot Of things wrong with it.

10y/o here, I act my age but I would be more happier if I was older. All the fun stuff is till I’m older. Volunteering at animal shelters or zoos are 17+. There’s no way for me to look 17 so I act like it sometimes only around my friends though sense kids nowadays get bullied if they act there age. Around my family I’m a total disaster, I seem age regressed. meowing constantly, shaking my hands, and crying for no reason at all. I know that all of that will lead me to a bad way of live either way, if I act my age I get bullied. If I don’t act my age and act older it would only be good for me now. The masking would lead me to a burnout when I’m older which is no good. I was raised like a 00’s kid, personally in my opinion it was quarantine that everything went down hill. Us being inside made us look to social media to connect with others which lead to addiction. I also fear that this led to regression in basic skills such as reading and math. A lot of the kids in my class were 1-2 reading levels below the standard but there was one kid who was at a kindergarten level which kind of make sense sense kindergarten was around the age Covid hit us. In 2nd and 3rd we got to choose from the lower grade (not me though, I’ve above it). My guess is because we spent more time in social media, we didn’t practice much. This didn’t happen to me because I picked up warrior cats + genetics I’m not sure about the other 3 kids in my class that were at standards, I guess genetics and something else.

As a 2012 gen alpha ( y’all ain’t gonna change my mind ) I feel more associated to gen alpha. This is one of the main topic of the gen *our “attitude”* (pls don’t kill me for saying this) the more I see gen z’s self confidence and presence on social media, the more I realize gen alpha is trying to live up to those expectations. *Tech Addiction* I see that it’s not just gen alphas, gen z’s addiction to their devices might also lead to challenges for gen alpha if they’re trying to stay of their devices (especially if a gen alpha has a gen z sibling who is WAY too addicted to technology). Last but least probably one of the MOST controversial topics for us *”being basically stupid.”* since gen z’s focus on technology inspires education nowadays, gen alpha might be following the same routine and it probably affected them in a bad way academically. . . Fine u scrolled down enough. Fine, If you wanted to skip to the summary because of my unneeded yapping… all I’m saying is y’all can not be slamming these kids, gen alpha was just trying to pick up what gen z was putting down for them. So don’t be mad for some gen z’s being a bad example for gen alphas

Just some random information... Gen Alpha begins ( 2010 ) in some sources while others say ( 2012 or 2013 ) so it really depends so people born during this period of time would be called cuspers or individuals born between a start of a generation and an end of one usually exhibiting behaviors or characteristics from both generations . But what we have to understand is that with time things change and people change and we have to embrace it or atleast accept them the way they are because that is the new normal. Like with gen alpha I am sure they won't be as fond of there coming generation.

No cause I'm 08 (15 in a half about to be 16). I feel so bad for these girls. these girls are supposed to be having a good childhood doing girly things such as playing with toys, playing girly games, dressing up, and role-playing. But no thanks to social media, it ruined their minds by saying you need makeup, being older, and dressing inappropriate. The parents are also the blame because why are you letting your daughter dressing like in Public? Like the dressing inappropriate is a huge problem with underage girls. These girls like esil for example I was so shocked to find out she's 12 years old and she's wearing that type of makeup ( not saying it's bad it's just she needs to wait a few years) the same goes for the outfits, she wears those types of tanktop croptops in Public and post it online idk what the tanktop is called tho. But no hate to her. I'm just worried about her bc she's so young. This also makes me question what 5th graders are wearing nowadays because what esil wears. Like I said to remind you, she's 12 YEARS OLD, and she's not even a teen yet... and the other problem is we ALL need to delete social media because it's ruining our mindsets. I'm so grateful I grew up in the 2010s with an amazing childhood. Too bad gen alpha girls are too "grown" for a beautiful childhood.

We were lucky to experience a world before iPads got big and social media took over our whole lives, it let us face challenges head on and while Gen Z has it's problems, Gen Alpha's the first time I've seen a generation not hold back bars to spit in someone's face disrespectfully, have a social life and know a world without crazy technology.

I disagree- I believe most gen alpha kids aren’t interested in the “clean girl” aesthetic but more interested in being “preppy” (not schoolgirl preppy but fun and colorful although I believe this does include skincare especially drunk elephant). i feel like the “preppy” aesthetic is more similar to something a tween/kid would be interested in. while I do agree things aren’t exactly the same as they were in the 2000s, and the kids ARE more pressured to grow up, all of these things seem like a more modernized version of the fun, bright pink glam everyone wanted as tweens.

If there's another thing I can add, I'd like to say something about school. I am at the VERY tail end of Gen Z. My younger sister is an older Gen Alpha. What she learned in kindergarten is what I learned in 2nd-3rd grade. School is literally speeding up and forcing more advanced content to younger students. I remember learning to share in kindergarten, she remembers starting cursive. I know this isn't true for all schools, but it's true of ours. It's kind of hard for me to act like a 13 year old when I have to study for geometry, a class meant for people 2 or 3 years older than me, and it's taking away from my freetime.

My child is almost 12, only just got him a phone this year for safety going to school. It’s absolutely the idiotic parents fault that generation alpha is a mess. They buy the phones, they download the apps for them, they’re overexposing their children to disgusting content daily. My son had friends who had phones and social media since they were 4! Mine only uses it to chat to friends and play games, no social media crap, especially TikTok. I am lucky, he doesn’t want that garbage app. I don’t think screen time is inherently bad as my son plays quite a lot of Minecraft with friends but he’s also getting top grades in his exams so I am not worried. The screen time is only bad when kids are being influenced to buy stuff they don’t need or to dress inappropriately for their age. It’s very sad that they want to grow up so fast. Trust me kids, when you’re in your 30s you’ll burnout and want to be a kid again 😂😂

Honestly I kind of have to wonder what gen beta will be like. But honestly I don't think it's a generational thing. Like when you are at the point where gen x is maybe knowingly( I don't know if they are doing it on purpose or not)embarassing themselves online it's like this is a world wide issue lol.

a lot of things you see on the internet aren’t true, I’m 14, (so a gen z I think) but I have gen alpha friends and almost none of them are like that. It is incredibly frustrating when people believe every single thing on the internet. (I am from Australia, so please tell me if it’s different in a America)

As a GenZer in middle school some gen Zers try to be more gen alpha to act more cool when they should try to act more mature to set a good example this is just my opinion

Imho children nowadays have too easy and uncontrolled access to adult content (on internet) and social media. Kids shouldn’t be allowed on social media until a certain age.

Since gen alpha is a newer generation, the date on which they began being born is subject to change. A while back they said it started in 2010, then they said it started in 2016, then they said 2012, then 2011, now 2014. It's changing.
