This show sucks now- I found a rant I recorded after ephemeral and slapped it over poorly edited pics and speedpaints because im lazy... I was really frustrated a few weeks ago (and my sinuses were stuffed like a turkey on thanksgiving I apologize lmaoooo) so yeah

I feel ya girl! They need a better way to make the show great again. If Thomas didn't make Marinette a creep, make Garbiel a psycho, or make Chloe unredeemable, the show would do a whole lot better. I know it's meant for kids, but sugarsnap there are other people who watch it as well (teens, young adults, and adults). Make it better people!

Agreed, I just firmly believe the show is not for kids (maybe that was the original target, then again it was missed by a lightyear). We are not talking about a cartoon with simple premises like Paw Patrol, Pocoyo or Calliou, we are talking about a show with troublesome teenagers, abusive adults, family issues, lost of loved ones, cataclysmic events and tons of themes not for children (PG12 or higher maybe). Sure, the show clicks "Undo" every episode to make sure things never go out of hand, but so far the world has been destroyed / rebuild 2 times and threatened half a dozen. This is not a show "for kids" and the audience is proof enough.

What bothers me most about this show is its creator, Thomas Astruc. He assumes everyone who disagrees with him is a hater, regularly uses harmful stereotypes for characters, used a racist flag without thinking, openly mocks fans with theories, bashes fans who write Fanfiction, thinks artists who take commissions are stealing so you should only buy official art, dumbs down characters just to make ridiculous plot points like a napkin jabbing someone’s eye out work, wastes time bashing characters he hates that would be better spent developing characters he likes, baits fans by saying “such and such character is (insert form of representation) yet refuses to openly acknowledge it in the show because he doesn’t want his show cancelled in other countries, uses sloppy inconsistent writing that is the equivalent of handing in an essay with no research that wasn’t proof read to your teacher then expecting an A, and thinks he’s better than his fellow artists…including Disney…aka the network that airs his show in some country…Pixar, and Iginio Straffi. Yet somehow this complete dumpster fire of a show has been renewed for a sixth season and fans still blindly praise it while much better shows like The Owl House had to cut their final season down because a network executive decided their show “didn’t fit the brand!”

Whilst I agree with a lot of what you said, I have to disagree about Adrien being the main character, the whole theme of the show would be entirely different. I mean get me wrong, Adrien is the best character (after Plagg that is). But I actually really like how Adrien and the Agreste family are mysterious and makes us/ the audience want to learn more about them and if Adrien were the main-main character, it wouldn’t be as much of a hype since we’d most likely know the truth about Emilié and Gabriel at the beginning of the show rather than later on in the series. But it could definitely work if the creators flipped the perspectives at the start of season 5. Depending on what happens for the rest of season 4, having Adrien switch roles with Marinette would be a smart and interesting move by Thomas and the team.

Well said! I probably should’ve clarified that I meant it more as Adrien in the spotlight for season 3 or season 3’s finale arc- not the whole show. I do think the hint dropping and buildup could’ve stayed throughout season 2 and 3 in order to make us want more (but now theyre dragging it outttt)

👏I👏AGREE👏. Season 1's main focus was introducing the show basically, and the umbrella scene was *chef's kiss* and that got me HOOKED. And I'm with you, Season 2 is the BEST SEASON, and I was really looking forward to Season 3, as we all were. But as I watched through Season 3, my interest gradually decreased, and it didn't make it any better when the episodes were released out of order. There were some good episodes imo, but the season finale "Miracle Queen", Chloe's character arc?? They just YEETED it out the window. When Season 4 came, I still watch it, but I'm not as excited for it anymore. And it's a shame cuz this show has SO MUCH POTENTIAL. Again, I would still watch it to see everything unfold, but I do wish that they would've done better in their writing and character developments. And yes, I agree with what you said at the end...WATCH THE OWL HOUSE EVERYONE. IT'S A GOOD SHOW. Miraculous used to be my favorite show, but The Owl House quickly took its place.

Agreed 100%! Honestly, I feel such a strong conflict on the teams developing the show, some want to make it great and others want to make it ridiculous (utterly ridiculous!). Which is heartbreaking, it's like having the finest ingredients, a great dining place, excellent recipes... And then mashing everything into puree because the staff - for some (Thomas) reason - wants to keep everything as it was... At least it seems we will have "the end of Hawkmoth" this season! Hopefully! :-)

Completely agree. I mentioned in another comment about this, but I have come to the idea that this story does not have much of a TV Bible or structure of how this world works. It feels like most of the story is made on the whim and not thought out past the basics of Boy and Girl are meant to be together and they happen to be super heroes. Especially since this story has gone completely all over the place narratively and even animation. While the ending for season 4 was something big, it still feels like this should have happened back in season 3 by now. Still, who knows. But honestly, fan content is more interesting than what is cannon right now. And where my focus has been for a while

I actually like this show a lot. Season 3 and 4 are the best in my opinion. I didn't care that much about the fact that Chloe got ''evil'' in S3 after S2. The time travel thing doesn't bother me at all tbh, its rather more interesting for me. I THINK I AM THE ONLY ONE, ON THIS EARTH, THAT HAS THOSE OPINIONS ABOUT THIS SHOW!😅 PS: Thomas Astruc isn't the only one tho who writes the episodes! There are like 3-5 other people that write those episodes, so don't blame everything on him if you don't like the writing.

While I do get what you mean about Thomas not being the only writer, it doesn't exactly help that many see him as the main writer/ creator of the show. Sure other writers are there to help, but to many people, it feels like the show is being created on a whim and does not have a strong narrative structure. And while some can say "oh, it is a monster of the day/ new villian/ adventure of the week, so there is no real plot" it still doesn't help that many interpret the first two seasons having an arc and then all of that development just flushed down the drain - such as many did see Chloe being more of an anti hero for season 3 since Lila seemed to be making a stronger appearance and seeming more willing to be a villain than Chloe (as one interpretation). But then to say "she was never going to be redeemed" and say she is mean and shouldn't have gotten one - by his logic and no other creator that I or other are aware of. And if that is the case, it should apply to Marinette. Because, while I understand her antics are to be funny, it comes off as creepy and annoying and hypocritical. And leaves many confused. And time travel is not a problem or couldn't be possible, but the way it is used to reset everything and there are no lasting consequences of the heroes. No real threat to the narrative that the stakes are going to be higher because someone can just go back in time and alter it based on a whim. Also, they don't treat it like a delicate thing but a fix all to keep the audience to come back but not actually progress the story in a meaningful way. (Meet the Robison is a good story with time travel that comes to mind, but hopefully you get the point.) Not trying to say you can't like the show. I do still have a soft spot for it. But I won't lie the repetition and lack of a bigger story arc/ progression on that arc is leaving many fans of the show bored. And it could be just a collection of writers not agreeing on how to proceed or it could be something in the production line we don't know. But for the story to not have like some TV guidelines or structure and feel like the rules change on a whim feels like lack of foresight on the creators part. In my honest opinion.

I will admit I did not watch the season finale when I wrote that post - given that I did not have the time nor a lot of energy to give to watching it for reasons later. But I did give it a chance, and well... it just felt hollow to me. Like understandably, these are significant stakes. Gabrielle has the powers of all the miraculouses. Ladybug is messed up and at her lowest, and everything is coming apart, but to what end? We know that Gabrielle's arc is coming to an end, but what next, and why should I care? (In my opinion) And fair, some of the drama is good. But there are times when it feels that there is no time to actually feel like there is no real impact on how things happen in this show. Not a lot of time is designated to just having the characters feel the weight of the consequences or learn about the world without having to use a microscope to understand how this world functions. And you're right that this is a superhero show, and they will win, but a lot of why heroes are fun to watch is because we get to see them grow and learn. But it feels like they wasted a lot of Season 4's potential by making Marinette go down this spiral of trying to lie to Chat and waffle on whether she is letting Adrien go or not. Plus, characterwise, she has completely changed as a person for a reason that eludes me. And it could be that I am just hoping that they do something new - either a new villain that pushes the characters more or something changing more than just drama. Ultimately, my point is that while I can understand that the writing is interesting, it just does not feel like it has that spark of fun or mystery anymore. (In my opinion). And a lot of it comes from just weird writing choices that feel like a draft rather than a finished project. But hey, glad you like it. I do want season 5 to have some more power writing and, hopefully, something to completely throw the dynamic off its status quo. But I just am not as optimistic as I used to be, is all - no thanks to the writing as a collective.

I think people mostly blame Thomas not only because of the writing itself, but because of his response to almost any kind of criticism, even when it’s only something totally valid and not harmful at all (And I’m obviously not talking about people being fully disrespectful and sending threats, that’s obviously terrible and a really shitt* thing to do, I’m talking about people who genuinely want a better show and clearly express themselves that way, but still get harsh responses like they are wrong for thinking that way)

🥸 subscribing to see a video of her thoughts on the season finale and I agree so much no one can try to deny it making the main character be a stalker and obsessive isn’t good it’s gotten to the point where marinate seems invasive she goes to too much of an extreme multiple times it’s hard to see her as a character who can grow it feels like the writers definitely have built an invisible wall between ladybug and chat noir they see the unfairness but if he gets too mad and or tries to communicate with ladybug it seems like he always has to dismiss himself …also amphibia is an amazing show too 🤗

This show had so much potential, but between Thomas Astruc being, well, Thomas Astruc, the animation, and the complete erasing of each episode’s development, it’s still my guilty pleasure, but it’s so… different. I think s4 did what it did decently, and I’m proud of them for adding in Cat Noir’s character development, but then they went and said that it was resolved in Kuro Neko. I think they might still bring the show out of the dumps, Risk and Strikeback were really good IMO. I know how bad this show is, but I love it anyway. I just want the same spark I got in 2020 when I began watching again (although I do love that it isn’t as repetitive anymore).

That's the Reason why I made my own story called Redemption of The Bee Hero Chloe's Story in my own Anime series called Rise of The Unknown League Universe where she lives in the new universe it's gonna be way better than this God awful Show and that's what i rather read my own story than his. 🦚 I hate Rhomas Astruc when he destroyed the redemption arc of Chloe Bourgeois and making her a bad guy again.. She's more a broken Character than a Villain..you know She deserves a better life and a new universe than this two faced show loop. Period. 😤
