Lavatories were blocked off in the front for staff use. This is a temporary measure because of corona. It's the same with Air Canada.. and on short haul AC business class you also only get water and a tiny pretzel bag. This is to limit the interaction of the crew with the passengers.

I hate to say it too but you’re totally right and as a Swede and an EBD member, I see no reason at all to fly SAS at the moment until they reintroduce service and opens up the lounge in GOT. I know they’re doing it to save money, it’s obvious but still compared to everything else, that’s pennies. Hopefully they’ll see this video and react on it ASAP

Prior to this terrible Covid19 crisis SAS were already costcutting to the extreme, no lounge access for *Gold members at contract lounges, a ridiculous expensive plus product which is a complete joke and now about the only European legacy carrier without any service during this pandemic. In Norway Wizz is starting up domestic routes as of November, let's hope the SAS board will wake up and take Dan's critiscm in this video at heart before it's too late. I won't be holding my breath however...

Flown 3 weeks ago in Economy with a very small airline, AirDolomiti, operating a flight for Lufthansa Regional. The service was exceptional, for a one-hour long flight. Coffee and tea, bottled water, and a small snack for each passenger. It can be done if there is any interest from the airline.

As a Norwegian I have to say that SAS is a disgrace to all of us Scandinavians. We deserve a better “national” airline. As you mentioned, it’s not the crew’s fault but the guys at the top who doesn’t understand the aviation business. If KLM, Air France, British Airways, Lufthansa etc can do it and still make a profit there is no reason why SAS can’t do it. A bottle of water in Plus on a 2+ hour flight is embarrassing. There is no other word to describe it.

Dan - Thanks for doing what you do. Just an FYI - In the US there is only 1 carrier (American Airlines) that offers premium drinks and meal service in First Class. All other airlines offer Water and maybe a snack. Also, there was no reduction in fare for the reduction in service.

I've flown with SAS only once (Berlin via Copenhagen to Tokyo) and was economy class. But after the flight I had decided "I NEVER fly SAS". The crews were really nice but the service was just not good at all, that also included the entertainment programs. I just couldn't believe the flight was more expensive than AirFrance/KLM! They have so much better service than SAS. I relly hope that they will improve their service!

I have a massive bone to pick with SAS. With Covid my Danish fiance and I are only able to see each other due to special circumstances with the government, but I have to fly direct. From my area the ONLY airline that offers a direct flight to CPH is SAS. You'd think because these massive planes are nearly empty they would lower prices (like every other airline...ever) oh NO I'm paying MORE than I usually do at almost $1300 for ECONOMY. Talk about a monopoly doing people dirty in a time of need. :( On top of that..service sucks and is not worth even $500 RT. :(

This review gave me mixed feelings. I totally understand that as a customer expecting food on a business class flight and only getting a bottle of water is unacceptable. BUT, we are in the middle of a pandemic. I think it’s great that they are practicing social distance and minimizing contact with passengers. All in all Dan after having watched all of this, I expected a lot worse from you. And you are so right on so many things in this video. I hope SAS will take a look at this and rethink their service. I always enjoy flying with SAS because their crew are fantastic, it’s just a shame that the service is such a big let down. Hopefully better times are coming for the airline. Stay safe Dan!

SAS is in deep financial trouble at the moment and one of the ways to cost cut is by cutting on the onboard service. To be honest, you shouldn't be travelling unless you really need to at the moment so don't think it's that unreasonable for SAS to draw back on things to ensure that they survive.

I agree that SAS should not be using fare codes like J, C, D, Z, and I for SAS Plus if they are not going to be treating it like Euro business. I see no reason why they can't limit SAS Plus within Europe to Y, S, B, P, and A and for awards they could use N, although Perhaps having N as a short-haul SAS Plus award might be a problem because many Star Alliance programs can't book premium economy except on their own airline (ie Aeroplan) - and it seems for this reason they are usually booked into "I" and classed as business, but of course it is SAS plus just like it would be otherwise, with no blocked middle seat. If someone is connecting from a long-haul business class ticket to short-haul SAS Plus, they should just book the short-haul into Y or B as it happens on LH sometimes. NOW... I personally got amazing value from SAS Plus earlier this year. The flights I had were booked into "A" (SAS Plus Smart) - and the fare was very reasonable considering what it included. I had two bags with me and didn't pay a cent extra for them. I also got lounge access and all the priority stuff at the airport, oh and of course there was food on board, which was excellent on both flights. For what I paid (around $135 CAD for each of TXL-ARN and ARN-AMS) it was an amazing value - especially since the base fare for EasyJet was around $90 CAD per leg at the time including absolutely nothing. I even got 125% Aeroplan miles. I also felt the quality of everything was no doubt better than EasyJet. I even got an entire row of seats to myself on both flights. I would happily go for SAS Plus again if the price is right.

But it’s not a great airline. Communication is terrible when it comes to flight cancellations. Restricting benefits for gold customers without notice. The best part was the usage of Star Alliance lounges. Usch SAS, inte bra.

I was very interested in watching this video. I stopped flying SAS more than 15 years ago after my wife and I had the following experience. We live in Melbourne Australia. We had booked a first class round the world fare using Thai to Stockholm, SAS to Copenhagen, and Bruxelles. I was informed that SAS only had business class on their European legs. We accepted this and we were allocated two first row seats during our booking. Great was my surprise when our boarding passes had us seated in the last row from Stockholm. I queried this only to be told by the check-in agent that SAS only offered economy in Scandinavia. Furthermore, we were not SAS frequent flyers, so we were seated in the back. He could not care less that our fare was first class. I complained to the SAS office in Sydney on our return. They told me it was my responsibility to ensure they offered the service we had paid for! Are you surprised we do not fly SAS on our yearly trip? We flew Lufthansa from Barcelona to Tromsø last year to avoid SAS even though they only offered one weekly flight. By the way, we were charged a full unrestricted business class fare on the Stockholm to Copenhagen leg!

For me the state of airports (your Heathrow example is excellent) and the lack of any in flight experience is the main reason I'm travelling nowhere during the pandemic. Yes this probably means at this point I won't be travelling for maybe another 2 years but so be it. Were I to be travelling long haul it would most likely be in business so given the cost at the moment the level of service they can provide is never going to meet expectation or come anywhere close. I could consider a short haul but the lack of any social distancing or enforced standards at UK airports - no thanks.

Again, really like your videos keep them coming.

Pre-pandemic, my choice would have been KLM or Finnair. Now, I'd choose Austrian or Brussels Airlines since they've maintained regular service😊

Nice video. But the blocked forward lavatory is a new covid procedure for many airlines including LH, LX, OS, AF, KL and AZ. I know it’s mainly in aircraft which have only one forward lavatory, as this is the one the cockpit will use, and due to corona they are mandated by EASA to block one toilet for crew use. This is a temporary EASA directive until the corona situation is controlled

It’s a bit cheeky of them to stick to this non-service. Like night and dag to Lufthansa, they has become my gateway to 🇸🇪 from 🇬🇧 as of late.

Just to remind myself an asian of how inflated prices are in scandinavia, I just have to remember that they sell swedish air in a can for the same price of 5kg of rice here where I'm from😂

They tried bribing me with 35e to take a credit voucher rather than money back for a ticket. No thanks would sooner wait another 6 months lol.

Greg Johnson As a 13 year former airline customer service agent (1977-1990) I can tell you that slogan coined by retailer Marshal Field couldn’t more untrue. For instance, there were times customers told me to bring out the spare airplane when their plane had a mechanical cancellation. Were they right? How about them insisting I bring the plane back to the gate because they were late and could still see it on the tarmac. I got a million more.

At least they allow you to eat your own meal. Some airlines don't even give permission for that.

If you need a good scandinavian Airline i would definetly reccomend norwegian airshuttle, they fly from billund, oslo, copenhagen, Stockholm, Helsinki etc basically every major international airport in northern europe. They fly from these airports to asia and africa and america thus short haul flights all around europe, why are they so good you May ask? Well. Norwegian is a low cost Airline offering ammence service and the food is good Even on short haul flights thus the crew are happy pretty much every flight ive talen on Them.

thank you for not opening your mask when talking as I see alot of other airline reviewers do the exact opposite of what you've done when talking to the camera especially when they're in the crowded part of the airport.

I’m surprised at you.....you mentioned the perks of SAS Plus, but forgot a perk which is quite important to many flyers: More loyalty points. SAS Plus gives you considerably more points than SAS Economy. And by the way, closing the forward toilets makes perfect sense, because they are for crew-only use during the Corona restrictions. But I agree 100% when you wish all airlines (and their employees) a speedy return to the skies. Covid-19 will NEVER go away, it’s here forever, but when the vaccine is widely available let’s hope we see a gradual return to full timetables again👍🏻✈️

Please listen to Dan and refrain from flying SAS at all costs I am still waiting for 3(!!) refunds from cancelled flights over the span of 1.5 years and they still won't pay me back. And their customer service is a joke So if you ever have a problem with them due to cancelled flights don't expect to get your money back anytime soon....

The reviews is not very balanced. The meal service is issue(or lack of) and SAS plus concern are majority of the focus while other premium and non-premium services are summed up in 10sec. Although your concern is valid it just comes over as a rant instead of a review.(which is fine if this was the purpose of the video).
