I also remember an experience during my second-year teaching where a colleague let me know one of her students, who I taught and coached, had written a paper about me in her English class. The paper was about someone they most admired. I won't bore you with the contents of the paper, but let's just say this big lug was in tears (be crying). He never told me about it and I never let him know that I was given a copy by his teacher, but it was an honor to know that I had impacted a student's life and that in so doing he had impacted my life as well. It is something that I never forgot. But it was something I would have never known, if she hadn't been willing to share with me. Remember that you are an important influence on your students' lives and they will never forget you, just make sure the memories that they have of you are good ones!
