I grew up going to Camp Dearborn. Dad had a lifetime pass. I remember the paddleboats and the Moon Walk. I always preferred Camp Dearborn over Kensington and Kent Lake. But I admit, when I reached my teens I would hitchhike to Island Lake. That was back before the gravel pits became part of the park. Haven't been to either place forever but the pleasant memories of Camp Dearborn and Island Lake still live on.

We stay at Camp Dearborn during the 1960s at the trailer park when I was a kid. I have been to Camp Dearborn in 1971, 1972, 1975, and 1976, but after that I have not been to Camp Dearborn at all. Actually we did stay at the trailer park from 1966 to 1968.

Camp Dearborn was the best. Dearborn was great largely due to Mayor Hubbard. Dearborn has declined greatly and Mayor Hubbard’s statue was even torn down (not being P.C.). But Dearborn WAS great.
