I like Hanoi's different architectural styles a lot more than HCMC's. Hanoi also has the advantage of their parks around their lakes too I suppose. I lived and worked in VN for 10 years but have moved back to the US for 9 years now. I still think VN have the best cafes in the world. Not only are their coffees taste good but their cafes have so much variety in terms of architectural style, interior decor, different feel and vibes; unlike the stale and sterile coffee shops we have here in the US.

@@yan9040 It really depends on your personal preference/personality. If you prefer something more Western, focus on activities, then HCMC is probably more for you. If you're into beaches with warm water, then HCMC is closer to Nha Trang. If you prefer something that is more unique/different architecturally from Western/modern appearance, then Hanoi is probably more interesting. Hanoi also has modern districts but those are not where tourists stay. If you want to visit nature's beauty, then Hanoi is more convenient because of its proximity to mountainous areas like Sapa or Ha Giang (rice terraces, high mountain range w deep valleys), Halong Bay with its Unesco natural beauty, etc. Food is equally good in all 3 regions. Learn like 10 key phrases like thank you, how much is this, etc.

Omg we also went to Hanoi this December but mostly stayed in Old Quarter district. We only explored two cafes, The Running Bean Cafe where we had our egg coffee and Xofa Cafe to try their best selling coconut coffee 💕 wish we had a lot of time to visit other districts but time is short as our stay is only for 1 night 🥺 but definitely worth the food trip. Bahn mi chao and xoi xeo are must try too! ✨ Def be back to explore other places around Hanoi and Viet Nam!!
