THE LAST OF US 1x4 BLIND REACTION | episode 4 Please Hold to My Hand
Traveling through Missouri on their way to Wyoming, Joel and Ellie take a shortcut through the ruins of Kansas City when they get ambushed by bandits. Joel kills two of them, but a third manages to overpower and nearly strangle him to death before Ellie saves him by shooting the man with her gun. More bandits, led by Kathleen, find the bodies; Kathleen, believing that Joel and Ellie are in contact with a man named Henry she is hunting, orders a manhunt. Kathleen's second-in-command, Perry, finds evidence of infected burrowing their way into the city, but Kathleen orders him to conceal it until they find Henry. Joel finds a high-rise where he and Ellie decide to sleep for the night until they can scout a way out of Kansas City. They wake up to find Henry and his brother Sam holding them at gunpoint.

Hey, Deasha! The Hank Williams song, the sticky magazine, the pun book are all from the game. In the game, the setting of this segment is Pittsburgh rather than Kansas City but Ellie saving Joel enabling him to trust her is the key milestone. The second key milestone is meeting Henry and Sam. Jeffrey Pierce, who plays bearded Perry, portrayed Tommy in the both video games. Melanie Lynskey, who plays Kathleen, is a new character original to the show. John Getz, who plays Dr. Edelstein, is a veteran character actor from shows like "Timeless" and "Bosch" but is best known for the movies "Blood Simple" and "The Fly". The undulating floor implies something big underneath which is likely a spore-spewing bloater! The ambivalence you're meant to feel about Melanie Lynskey is something of a motif in the games which might be helpful to recall the further you proceed. Every altercation involves two people with their own back story. There's a story on each side of the gun. Joel has implied with silence that he has killed innocent people yet he is the protagonist because he's our POV character into the story. If Kathleen was your POV character, Joel's just the guy who killed Brian. Something to chew on.

@@gailseatonhumbert I'm assuming from your statement that you haven't played the game to its conclusion so I will be careful about what I say. Kathleen's decisions were ruthless and vengeful but she has a reason for feeling this way. Obviously, enough people were sympathetic to her situation and felt like-minded. Joel was attacked because she assumed Henry and the collaborators had sought outside aid. She is trying to track down someone she perceives as an enemy. Henry himself classifies his actions as "bad" and deserving of Kathleen's hate. Joel has done unsavory things to survive as revealed by Tess and his silences when queried. There is a story on each side of the gun. Everyone is shaped by circumstance. Nobody considers themself the villain. Remember this motif going forward. It is very important and the basis of the game.

The game is just like what you described at the beginning of this episode your heart is racing the stress exactly what I felt playing the game and now watching the show same feeling but I know what's coming but I don't know when or who or what they took from the game and mixed with the TV show? 😎 God I can't wait till episode 5 it's going to get crazy! I call this episode a filler episode fills in the gaps creates a little bit more story and it brings some of the stuff from the game that we remember in different ways but phenomenally done The show keeps getting better and better 😎 The buildup between Joel and Ellie perfect and then of course the introduction of the plot twist at the very end characters from the game that we've been waiting for to get back story on! The greatest moment in the game the pun book between Joel and Ellie when Ellie brings out the pun book get backstory on where it came from 😂
