It's like they don't realize that they're among the best musicians on the planet and that they're creating a masterpiece.

Exactly🙌🏼🔥👍🏼 They’re so young here and they created THIS album THEN aka @90-91🤯 I bought this album right as it had come out (saw the video premiere for “Lack of Comprehension” on Headbangers Ball late night on MTV and had my mind TOTALLY blown!!!), went ordered the album the very next day and this record proceeded to change my entire life (seriously! I’m a pro drummer and Sean became an instant life long influence at this point!). Eventually I had the pleasure and honor of seeing Death live only one time but it happened to be the “Death - Live In LA” show at The Whisky that eventually got released on DVD, etc. Top-tier bucket list of a concert in my entire life for me even at the end of the last note of the very concert that night. To see, hear, and know these guys were this talented, this humble, and this forward thinking has remained a constant source of inspiration in my life. God Bless Chuck for putting all the bands together that he did across all the records as all the records are Killer but “Human” was THE Game Changer for his sound and style and standards of musicianship. This footage provides the rare , almost long lost glimpse into justifying how truly amazing and so far ahead of everyone these guys truly were!! And then came the Cynic “Focus” album just around a year after “Human”, I mean JEEZ. Then Chuck switches up the band and drops “Individual Thought Patterns” as next album?!??! What a time and era of Metal that was. R.I.P. Chuck and Sean, the Very Best of the Best🤟🏻🙌🏼👍🏼💔🙏🏻

@@BlakeColie Wow ! Almost the same story here ! I saw the video on MTV, finally recorded it on VHS, watched it a few thousand times and a few years after, I bought the cassette at the local record store. I clearly remember where I was and when I listened to it for the first time. What a blast ! Every song was incredibly good and the production surpassed those of the former DEATH records (I discovered that afterwards). Imagine, I put the cassette in my walkman for the first time and slowly Flattening of emotion comes louder and louder with this crushing guitar tone. Also it was the first time I heard Lack of comprehension with a much better sound and it was epic! The lineup change for Individual thought patterns wasn't a bad thing : we had another very good record and who knows maybe the Human lineup would'have sounded more like Human part II ! I also have Cynic's "Focus" which is very good and as a guitar player, I think Paul Masvidal is one of the best guitar players in the world. Go listen to secret face first solo again. It's just mind blowing ! I'm glad to know that Sean is well recognized among drummers. There's a full documentary on him on YT (iKJdCM-ngGE) and everyone pays tribute to him. There's a few drum cam videos as well. As you said, RIP Chuck and Sean.

It's fascinating that a bunch of slightly awkward kids would record one of the best (death) metal records that was ever made. I still get goosebumps when I hear the fade in of the clicking bass drums of the opening title. Devastating that two of these guys are no longer with us.

Haven’t listened to that album in ages!! Brutal!! I remember the exact moment I first heard Death! Scream Bloody Gore absolutely blew my fucking mind! Chuck was the most amazing guitarist I’d ever heard. This video was ‘91. I was only 19! I had hair down to my ass, wore a leather motorcycle jacket, a concert t shirt, and blue jeans every single day! Woke up with a joint, and went to bed with one! Now I’m a grandpa!

Scotty was the master at getting past tape saturation. Back then there was literally not enough material to magnetize on a consumer cassette tape to hold the wall of sound found in these 90s death metal bands. I imagine, and what it sounds like, is he compressed the final mix, then ran it through an exciter so you got the appearance of dynamic range. Its very apparent on Cynic's Focus. What a time. Oh and look. Browning stopping by!

@andrewholdsworth13824 ай бұрын
Definitely!!! I like all the death albums but human is probably my favorite death album. I was 17 when first bought the album. I had never heard anything like it. It was a very brutal and complex sound. The playing is just very precise and on point. These apex musicians were able to give us something very chaotic and at the same time it sounds very focused and different. Overall a masterfully executed album!!!

The extreme facial close ups are strange. It’s almost like he’s invading the personal space. It’s like when someone is talking to you and they are way too close. I would be like “back up a little dude..l”. Other than that, this is history in the making. The cameo with Mike Browning was cool…this album and Leprosy are my favorites although I love them all.

The songs are great. The music is great. The performers and their performances are great. The production sucks. This guy Scott Burns ruined it. All of the death metal albums from this period sound exactly the same. Human, Butchered At Birth, Unquestionable Presence, Death Shall Rise, Blessed Are The Sick and Harmony Corruption. I can't believe all these bands were happy with the mixing.
@calebbean13847 күн бұрын
He also produced the earlier records by those bands, that sounded really good. He dropped the ball on this batch though
@user-gn9mx3mb7k7 күн бұрын
@@calebbean1384 Yeah. Spiritual Healing and Unquestionable Presence sound fine. But all the others like Focus and Testimony Of The Ancients sound like the guitars are running through some cheap multi-FX pedal. Also, what's with the extremely low mix of the bass guitar ala And Justice For All?
