So they miscalculated Android 18's speed and that she is able to go much faster than what they portrayed in the episode. Ben (Wiz) apologized on Twitter but stuck to the results of the fight regardless.

Yeah, the Death Battle team constantly seems to have issues power-scaling Dragonball Z characters. They either; a) nerf the Dragonball Z characters by refusing to use certain statements and feats to power-scale them or, b) give their opponent some feat or number that hasn't been proven in their primary source.

Holy they lowballed both of them. For one 18's blasts aren't just able to destroy buildings, they're able to destroy planets with minimum effort. Frieza destroyed planet Vegeta (10x bigger or 10x denser than Earth) with a one finger blast and Android 18 is nearly a 1000x stronger than him and also stronger than a Super Saiyan who could likrly destroy a star with a max power blast.

Frieza has abilities that were designed to destroy planets, the androids have never demonstrated anything like that. They were created to kill people specifically, only Cell, who had everyone's genes, proved to be capable of planetary destruction.

@@Elzzaw yeah I would have to say it doesn't work like that, at least not in Dragonball. By that same logic, them destroying even buildings would be above their designed purpose but that's clearly not the case.

@@Don-fw3nv I would say to that they've been given enough power to do ki blasts, but their ki blasts tend to be more focussed beams. The androids have always been a strange bunch, and I doubt very much that if Gero hadn't gotten his hands on alien cells that he would be able to make something capable of destroying the planet. He made them very capable fighters and very durable with unlimited energy reserves. Honestly they just make energy do what they want within the show. Tien with his tri-beam was able to keep 2nd stage cell down, a feat that was way beyond even the super Saiyans who could destroy planets, but Tien can't destroy planets. While at the same time all the Z fighters can use Kamehameha which Cell tries to destroy the planet with later, it's too inconsistent.

You forgot that 18 could absorb energy, because she can't do that. 17 and 18 were perpetual energy models. 19 and 20 (and Super 17 from GT) absorb energy.

This is another of those "right result from the wrong information" epsiodes. 18, as has been pointed out, doesn't have energy absorption outside of like one video game. However what she does have is raw strength.

When does 18 ever absorb energy? It's noted in DBZ that gero and 19 are energy absorption models where 18 an 17 are infinite energy models

19:00 You "forgot" that about her, because she can't actually do that. That was never a power she had. It's actually a specific line of dialogue Trunks has, when he's asked what 17 and 18 can do: He literally says "These things don't need to absorb energy". They blatantly went against their own rules in this episode; they only count canon events in their calculation, but they referred to a DBZ fighting game where she had a special move that absorbed life energy. But this was specific to that spinoff game, and not actually canon to her character. They did a similar thing with Gaara vs Toph, but that time they got the fight results wrong. Android 18 prolly still would've won.

Loved seeing your reactions to this fight. I loved the animation. Honestly though, this battle had so much misinformation, and was unfair because 18 far outmatches Captain Marvel. Firstly, 18 doesn’t have energy absorption, and the anime and manga said that the difference from 17 and 18 to Gero and 19 is that Android 17 and 18 don’t have energy absorption, but are better because they have infinite energy. Also, they definitely downplayed 18’s speed. Piccolo during the saiyan saga (Vegeta and Nappa arc) was able to blend up the moon within like a matter of seconds, or minutes, and that Piccolo is FAR weaker compared to say Namek saga characters. Dragon Ball character often move in front of blast to protect people, and 18 kicked a Kamehameha from blue Goku. You could only imagine how much faster Goku in super is compared to Namek saga who blew up the moon in such a short time. She easily has to be above speed of sound, and is instead light speed. I also feel like they downplayed her strength. First form Frieza when he killed Bardock literally destroyed planet Vegeta, a planet bigger than earth with just one finger. This same Frieza later in the series in his true form which is way stronger than his first form, had stronger attacks countered by Goku, and then Future Trunks, and 18 during the Android Saga is leagues stronger than them. Honestly Captain Marvel needed a more fair match up.

@@SuperSky9 When did I bring up “debunking”? DB certainly isn’t a stranger to error, but one so glaring for such a popular series as Dragon Ball is kinda uncommon, and them owning it is even more so. Seemed worth pointing out, so I did. And not that it’s any of your business how or why I enjoy this show, but I’ll cue up Ben 10 vs Green Lantern when I’m in the mood for a DB binge, and Cole vs Alex was among my favorite episodes from Season 10. Criticism and discussion of controversy are not mutually exclusive from enjoyment. I can and will continue to do both.

Deathbattle always gets their stats wrong. 18 doesn't absorb energy. The show goes out of its way saying this during the android/cell saga

5:14 Wait what? Since when can Android 18 absorb energy? Dragon Ball Xenoverse allows the player to create their very own custom character, because of that, the ability to absorb your opponent's ki was created along with all the other moves used in Dragon Ball's history. Xenoverse and Xenoverse 2 are really fun games in large part because of their main feature: customization. Even though it's limited, you are allowed to customize some of the main cast characters as well as long as they act as your teachers in game (I think that's the rule anyways it's been years since I last played the game). So for example, you're allowed to customize 17 and 18's move sets and use the ability of energy absorption, that doesn't mean they actually have that ability in the main story. It's stated that Dr. Gero never gave them that ability because their energy supply is infinite - that, however, would be EXTREMELY broken in a fighting game that requires an energy/ki cost to launch powerful attacks, so because of that their energy just charges faster than the other characters, and they are allowed to absorb energy like Android 19 and Dr. Gero did - at least in Xenoverse which, again, is NOT canon to the main story lol Also, it's not Android 18 can "possibly" destroy planets. It's A18 can definitely destroy planets... good rule of thumb ANYONE stronger than Namek saga Frieza can destroy planets. Even Saiyan saga Vegeta was shown destroying a planet 🤷‍♂

Yeah, as many people have said below, this is one of my least favourite episodes of Death Battle, due to the whole "18 can absorb energy" thing, but one thing I like about it is that they continued the trend of getting VAs from Dragon Ball Z Abridged to voice DBZ characters. Android 18 in this episode is voiced by Amber Lee Connors, who voiced 18 in DBZA.

Even with all the inaccuracies the results probably stand, by the end of Namek most DBZ characters outscale 99% of Marvel sans the characters who can time travel, distort reality, represent a quantum superposition etc, basically all the creative hacks ability. I mean they can basically all move at the speed of light, punch mountains to dust, blow up planets/solar systems, just look at Frieza, dominated half the galaxy with NOBODY touching his power besides Buu and Beerus and then he got cooked by Trunks in the blink of an eye, the boy who came back to the past because he was hopelessly outmatched by 17/18.

Sadly I disagree with this fight. Just because of how powerful Captain Marvel really is. And enjoy 18 never showed that she can absorb energy so honestly, she shouldn’t have been able to take Captain Marvel’s power. Now I can definitely see a team winning, but if they’re doing like how deb does I can see Captain Marvel winning more times over it than 18.

Death Battle sucks at scaling characters. They pretty much low-ball one character while buffing the other with feats that are either non-canon or are out of context. Which is why most people just shut their brain off to watch the pretty flashing effects at the end.

She doesnot need to absorb anything, 18 is way stronger than what they portrayed here, destroying buildings? She can destroy the planet with a single blast if she wanted, and Binary absorb energy but only enough, she has limits, 18 does not, i mean, talking about amount of energy, so, this battle's result stay the same, but it must be faster than that 😅

18 can't absorb energy normally, she only did from Xenoverse games, which are non-canon. The Xenoverse games are really made-up plots and allowing you to rewrite the story. Android 18 in DBZ the shows have never shown to do it at all even Dr. Gero created 17 and 18 as infinite energy beings since him and 19 are energy absorbing beings. Dr. Gero never designed 17 and 18 with that ability so Death Battle was 100% wrong on that fact. I did agree with the fight as 18 would win because of infinite energy, can last longer than her opponent and was more powerful as Marvel needed energy to reach 18's level which would of never happened.
