To explain something about Samus and her asking for permission: everyone ignores that part of her characterisation as it comes from a game no one likes that turned Samus from a lone wolf bounty Hunter into an easily startled and permission needing shadow of herself. Later games seemed to have ignored any of these traits and most people don’t consider it a part of her character. The Samus everyone likes wouldn’t ask for permission to use her powers, though she does frequently lose those powers due to getting lax or being surprised by a new threat.

@@Stormkrow280 It canonically takes place between Super and Fusion. I can accept it if it was early on but this was the fourth game in the timeline (not counting Prime). If it was earlier they could do the PTSD more justice but by that point thanks to the manga we know she already has a coping mechanism for it. No wonder Fusion was called Metroid 4 because Other M messed up. So many plot holes too, not just characters. It was fun though but clearly unfinished.

Samus was a icon when Metroid released. The developers knew they wanted it known that Samus was a girl (essentially one of the first powerful female protagonists in video games) but were concerned that people wouldn’t even give the game a chance if they knew the protagonist was a girl. So instead they had Samus stay in the power suit the entire game and at the end had her leave the suit and reveal her gender. Absolutely shocking the teen boys playing that they were actually playing as a female character.

She was then raised by Birds who were like “so yeah we used to be a lot more warlike… here’s some of our still bleeding edge battle armor if you want.” She did. Ans when she grew up the space pirates come to speak of her with a fear that borders on religious terror before an angry god. She’s treated as a greater threat then entire planetary militaries. And they aren’t wrong to do this. What’s most telling is that in those moments as shown in the death battles, where her super battle suit is disabled, she still gets the job done.

As much as I enjoy this Death Battle episode, they really undersold just what kind of insane legacy Samus Aran has as one of the original badass female warriors in gaming. This is a woman who has achieved some of the most impossible feats out of sheer willpower and *very* superior firepower. All that being said, the line they mention about Samus waiting for permission for her upgrades was from Metroid Other M, widely lambasted as one of if not the worst title in the franchise. Samus gives zero shits about permission in any other game, but Other M portrayed her in a much more passive "woe is me" fashion that is strikingly out of character for someone who casually destroys planets to defeat bad guys.

The creators said they were trying to show her emotions from PTSD resurfacing because all these people from her past stir up old memories, and the monsters are like the ones who destroyed her family. But boy does it not convey any of that in the game.

I remember watching this one a long time ago. I thought they explained that Samus is ridiculously strong and durable even without her suit, and would've won even if Boba had caught her naked in the bathtub. Also, no one talks about that game where Samus "had to ask for permission". She's never had to ask for permission to do anything before or after (that I know of). Every game has her start from scratch in regards to powerups, so I guess that was probably that game's way of doing it.

@@DefinitelyNotDefinitive2 It was because she was working with the Federation military in that game when she's working on her own in the others. She agreed to follow orders in order to work with them on the mission. The whole volcano run was just a very badly written part. They left out that the guy she agreed to follow the orders from was her old Commanding Officer from when she was a part of the Federation, so this was a rare situation where she relinquished authority to someone she trusted and had experience working for. And also she was told not too use her full power set until authorised because her powers are very destructive and they were trying not to destroy the station they were on since they were looking for survivors. Other M still isn't a great game, especially storywise, but it's not quite as bad as people tend to describe it.

Samus is my favorite female character of all time. Metriod is almost probably the most alien game I ever played. Just the way she moves it's always very sharp and twitch. Kind of like a bird then the music, love that series. I don't think they were upfront with the analyses with this one though. They never mentioned how nimble Samus is or explained her feats well. Like canonically, her first mission as a bounty hunter was to go attack a space pirate base on Zebes that the Galactic Federation sent in an army and said army was repelled by the pirates, so they sent in Samus alone. By the time she left, she defeated Ridley and turned the base into a crater. Feel like Metriod doesn't watch well though unfortunately. It's not normally voiced and it's more environmental storytelling although the speedruns of super metriod, zero mission, fusion, and dread are really cool and worth a watch. Especially 100% runs.

Though Samus won, I dont think they really did her justice. Two kinda standard features for her is she has a gun that shoots through walls, so no taking cover and realistically, no physical armor should be able to stop it, and then though she is incredibly fast (probably fast enough to kill Boba by running past him if she has her speed booster) she is a tank, it is not exactly explained as far as I know, but it is though she has energy shielding which is powered by refillable energy tanks which allows her to be hit over and over or even bathe in lava for a good while without her thermal protection.

Her arsenals alone kills, he has a dark beam capable of opening a mini black which very few things survive. If she had properly prepared to her full extent then she would have killed him much quicker but for the sake for making the fight longer and entertainment they had too removes a lot of her weapons even her suit. In the end tho his suit can withstand extreme cold, he is still mostly human and cant.

This was a complete missmatch. Samus has done things like freeze an entire sun, stop a blackhole that was eating away an entire universe, survives her own planet destroying power bombs and so on. Its not even a fair fight

This fight was an absolute mismatch like korra vs storm, and deku vs asta. Boba has nothing in his arsenal that can even scratch base samus. She has survived planets collapsing, body slammed gigantic monsters with ease, has a weapon so destructive that she can cause a chain reaction that destroys the planet, casually walks through magma, can slow time, turn invisible, has instant scan visors, can drain life instantly through touch like a super vampire, can move faster than light with flash step, can fly with a nearly invincible shock barrier, has so many overpowered ridiculous weapons that even batman would get jealous

This was a bad Death Battle. They intentionally MASSIVELY undersold Samus. Without her powersuit she's already low level Superhuman level of strength, durability, and agility. With her powersuit she's literally a planet killer. They fail to list her MANY weapons: Ice beam- freezes anything Wave beam- travels through solid material indefinitely - Plasma beam- literal plasma that can melt anything - Dark Beam burst -Literally rips holes in space-time and sucks things in Annihilator Beam- A beam that fires concentrated matter and antimater that messes up everything and when charged also opens rifts in space-time - Hyper Beam- Full powes Samus beam that literally obliterates everything. Those are just the beams. And not even all of them.... She IS NOT a normal person. She has had her DNA modified twice in her life. She can jump far higher than a normal person and surive falls unharmed that will kill normal people as well. Not to mention her Chozo DNA makes her far more hardy to environments/ecosystems that are too harsh for regular people. On top of this, she has been trained as a warrior since childhood, so not only does she has amazing agility and swiftness, but she is also an outstanding fighter, not to mention could certainly kill in hand to hand combat with ease. Not only this but also has excellent marksmanship.... So even without the suit, she is superhuman in every category.... With the suit upgraded she can: - Move at supersonic speeds - Overcome the affects of gravity and air/water resistance on her body -Survive the cold of space and being submerged in lava entirely - And her durability is enough to survive planet explosions...... -And the suit is air tight She also has: X ray visors Thermal visor Echo visor And then she has bombs, missiles, seeker missiles and ice missiles. And top this ALL OFF, the suit is operated by MENTAL CONCENTRATION! That's right. This woman has battle giant monsters, demigods, fought in literal wars, and been submerged in lava in a suit that only stay intact BECAUSE SHE WILLS IT TO. To say that this battle is a stomp is to put it lightly. It is a literal absolute MASSACRE. Fett stood NO CHANCE gainst Samus. Hell, head struggle against a suitledd Samus because she is most certainly stronger, faster, and more durable than him. And actually trained in hand to hand combat by both thr Chozo and the Galactic Federation. Also, besidds amazing athletic abilities granted by the chozo DNA, it also significantly slows down her aging as the Chozo are known to live fot thousands of years. Also a little known fact about Samus is that shed actually a techie. She designed the very ship she operates herself. Also, her "losing powers" is literally just something needed to play the games. They don't ever bring this up with other characters they do in death battle who literall do the exact same thing in their games. "Prone to make mistakes", not really man... She rarely EVER makes mistakes. Sorry for this long comment, but how bad this battle is just goes to show they did VERY LITTLE research when doing this.
