If you've ever wondered what could've happened on DEATH BATTLE if things were just a bit different, I've got a list of matchups that were planned or highly considered but ultimately fell through. Fun Fact: Carnage was originally gonna fight Alex Mercer, but was switched out with Lucy after they remembered that Alex Vs Cole was more popular and that viewers would probably complain if Alex didn't fight Cole.

They could still do Alex Mercer vs carnage in the future. Similarly people requested ultron to fight brainiac, but they had him fight sigma instead due to popular demand, however they have said that they’d still be willing to do ultron vs brainiac in the future at some point

I believe Liam said in a Ballot Banter that he was expecting to do Joker vs Giorno in Season 9, but it got traded out in favor of Jonathan vs Tanjiro due to how popular Demon Slayer was. Here’s hoping that Joker vs Giorno ends up being revealed as the finale in a couple days.

The Stallone vs. Schwarzenegger fight definitely would've been a fun one. It's basically the composite Goku vs. composite Ryu battle from the Tournament of Champions but taken in a much more silly direction. Honestly, I'm glad it didn't happen so far back since this is one of those episode ideas that really would benefit from the modern Death Battle touch. I actually hope they consider revisiting it.

As for Clare's opponent I'm more for Clare vs. Geralt as they're both super-human monster hunters who work for organizations that use super-human monster hunters Witchers, and Claymores respectively, both are branded as monsters themselves and have infamous nicknames The Butcher of Blakaiven, and The Silver-Eyed Witch both are roughly equal when it comes to physical strength, and durability as both have decent healing factors that can be overtaxed meaning they're not immortal hard to kill yes but immortal no, and both are master trackers/hunters, and tacticians, and both have power-up states to boost their physical stats and boost the potency of their healing factors IE Geralt's Enhanced State via that one mutagenic potion he drinks, and Clare's Human-Yoma hybrid form aka Partial Transformation that she gained when she did what no Claymore was said to do and make peace with her Yoma half along with both being equal when it comes to experience and training. Though they each have one advantage over the other as Geralt has the versatility, and range advantage due to his crossbow, bombs, and spells, whereas Clare easily takes the speed advantage especially once she goes into her Partial Transformation form as Clare in her regular form is confirmed to have a max run speed of supersonic, and confirmed in her Partial Transformation form to have a max run of hypersonic there's a reason why her nickname amongst her fellow Claymores is "The fastest blade in the land" though there is several questions that will need to be addressed those being will Geralt's amulet be able to sense the that Clare is a Human/Yoma hybrid and will his silver sword be able to do additional damage to her due to being a Human/Yoma hybrid, and will Clare due to being a Human/Yoma hybrid be able to sense that Geralt isn't a regular human.

Another fight almost happaned was Hulk VS DBZ Broly (the not canon one), but they did Hulk VS Doomsday first because that one was more requested and after they did Hulk VS Super Broly in Season 7.

Crash vs Spyro was planned for season 2 but got delayed to season 5. I like how pikachu vs agumon was supposed to be original fight for pikachu but we got Pikachu vs blanka insisted 😅

IIRC, there was a poll asking viewers to vote on a matchup between Shonen's Big Three. Naruto VS Ichigo won, so it was made. But that does mean that we were surprisingly close to a possible Ichigo VS Luffy. Also, if I remember from Cast, the Cereal Battle Royale has almost happened many times. There have been instances where entire teams were onboard for it before something else took priority. Personally, I'm confident that it would've happened in Season 8 if that season had the 20 Episodes it was planned to.

One potential opponent for Jean that Chad mentioned who did have a good chance of beating her was Phoenix Ikki from Saint Seiya and the connections were there as it was a battle between two characters with the Phoenix Motif Jean being the host of the Phoenix Force, and Ikki being the Bronze Saint of the Phoenix who are also known for dying and getting brought back to life, powerful pyrokinetics, and have both been on the good side as well as being evil. Plus when Ben asked if Ikki had anything that could allow him to win or at least put up a fight Chad revealed that Ikki was the better hand-to-hand fighter due to his extremely harsh training on Death Queen Island to become the Bronze Saint of the Phoenix including getting beaten to near death by his trainer on a daily basis, immunity to pyrokinetic attacks due to being the Bronze Saint of Phoenix giving him a mystical connection to fire the element associated with the legendary firebird, a massive resistance to mental attacks, the ability to fight without his body as unlocking his 8th sense of his Cosmos(energy that is basically a universe inside of him that allows for his abilities) grants him the ability to fight as just his spirit if his body is destroyed or gravely wounded, and speaking of death his strongest and most iconic ability resurrection as just like the actual Phoenix Ikki if he is killed can come back to life and as a result get a power boost with the level of said power boost being dependent on the strength of the attack that killed him think of it like the Sayians' Zenkai Boost from DBZ/DBS only much more potent and Ikki's current strength of power means he can resurrect instantly, and Ikki has come back from every type of death you can imagine he even came back to life instantly after he was reduced to mere atoms, and his Cloth aka his armor also gets instantly repaired and made stronger whenever he resurrects, with the only way to stop Ikki coming back to life is if after he's killed he chooses to stay in the afterlife with his dead girlfriend Esmerelda which is basically impossible as Ikki promised her as she was dying that he would stay alive and use the power as the Bronze Saint of the Phoenix to keep fighting and protect the innocent, and he has resistance to soul manipulation attacks.

Actually fun fact, for at least a time, Indiana Jones was going to fight Han Solo. I remember doing a little research for it many MANY years ago, not sure when they chose to not make it though, pretty sure this was back during Season 2. Another one that at least had SOME work put into it was a Koopaling Battle Royale also in season 2. I'm also surprised you never brought up the Season 4 leak that happend and forced a bunch of episodes to be cut or changed like Catwoman vs Black Cat and Rouge Squadron vs Star Fox. I'm not sure the validity of this, but I've heard that Hulk almost had Asura twice as an opponent. But went with Doomsday because of Batman v Superman, and Broly due to request... So my most wanted almost happened twice, and between that and the Contest of Champions, I am convinced it won't happen, so convinced that if it actually does happen, I will record myself watching the episode, dress up in a tux, while eating dog food. That's how convinced I am it won't happen. Edit, just saw the Broly/Asura/Hulk part and all I can say is Well... at least I still have Radiating Wrath

I know there's been a lot of controversial fights that were brought up and you mentioned a few here that I'm glad we actually didn't get whether or not they would actually be fun to talk about. If There is one matchup I really want it would be Ultimate Spider-Man vs Ladybug (Disney XD/Marvel vs Zag Toon/Miraculous) I was considering main 616 Spider-Man but he would crush ladybug for sure thats why I chose Ultimate Spider-Man from the Show that way it can make the fight more even and for my second match up It would be Goku vs Sonic (Dragon Ball vs Sega) using both mainline characters not Xeno and Archie, when I first heard of this match I was sure Sonic would lose but now that Sonic had a huge buff thanks to his latest game Sonic Frontiers its safe to say that Sonic can now go up against Goku.

I'm just really hoping Madoka fights Sailor Moon. Yes that matchup isn't my preferred for Madoka (It would be Madoka vs Wadanohara), but I still want to see that fight happen. I really want Madoka Magica to appear on Death battle, and with the new Madoka movie we'll likely see more of Madoka's new abilities to make the fight animation even better. Plus I don't care who Madoka fights, as long as she wins then I'm really glad to see Madoka in action. And I do hope Madoka does win against Sailor Moon if that fight happens. However in 2024 it's the 10th year anniversary of Luigi vs Tails. I'm just really hoping we get Luigi vs Pacman and Tails vs Coco Bandicoot because I really don't want that rematch episode to happen.

Sometimes Death Battle holds Podcasts about match-ups that do indeed happen in the future like Rick vs. The Doctor, I know they talked about Luffy vs. Naruto as well. Personally speaking, I have a bunch of Death Battles I would like to either see or hear talked about, I think my top three are Amber (Genshin Impact) vs. Pecorine (Princess Connect! Re:Dive) Inkling Girl vs. Squid Girl and Sakura Kinomoto vs. Negi Springfield. The first two, as far as I know, Death Battle hasn't covered a Mobile Game yet and Nintendo it has been a while since Nintendo fought anyone outside of games, I think Kirby is the only one. These might reappear on that podcast or later in the future. Who knows.

My thoughts on all the matchups we missed out on 1. Goomba Vs Bugertime Hotdog: Who the hell is BurgerTime Hotdog after looking him up yeah I can see why he was switched for Koopa I think he's just WAY too obscure 2. Knuckles Vs Wario: Oh THANK GOD they didn't do this one I really hate this matchup it's just so f#cking dumb and we probably would of never of gotten DK Vs Knuckles if we had gotten this so they absolutely made the right choice 3: TMNT Vs White Ranger: I don't know much about the White Ranger but this could of been fun to see 4. Master Chief Vs Duke Nukem?!?!: Honestly this is one I'm pretty bummed we're never gonna see but they absolutely made the right choice here swapping Duke out for DoomGuy 5: Sonya Blade Vs Nina Williams: Don't know why they scrapped this but know that I think about it, it was definitely scrapped for Chun Li Vs Mai Shiranui, this would be fun to see today 6: Harry Potter Vs Aang: Not many thoughts on this but thank God they didn't do it 7: Naruto Vs Luffy: WHY DIDN'T THEY DO THIS IT'S SUCH AN OBVIOUS THING TO DO 8: Pikachu Vs Augumon: I hate this got scrapped it definitely should of happened instead of Pikachu Vs Blanka 9: Kirby Vs Ditto: Ok thank God they choose Majin Buu because oh my God is this a stomp but if it wasn't a stomp this would of been really fun to see just imagine Ditto turning into different Pokemon copying there moves and abilities while fighting Kirby's copy abilities 10: Arnold Schwarzenegger Vs Sylvester Stallone: OK THIS WAS HUGE MISSED OPPORTUNITY just like why did they not do this honestly I hope they do this one day 10: Indiana Jones Vs idk: Honestly not having Indiana Jones on the show was such a missed opportunity but if they had to pick an opponent it probably should of been Jack Sparrow 11: Ichigo Vs Yusuke: Ok out of all the missed opportunities this has to be the biggest in the shows history just hope the do it one day 12: Scarlet Witch Vs Raven: Ok thank you death battle for not doing this 13: All Might Vs Captain Falcon: While I like the matchup it's definitely just a ehh matchup a fun one sure but the opponents they got where so much better 14: Broly Vs Asura: I'm very iffy on this matchup is it good one yes do they have much better opponents absolutely 15: Guts Vs Clare: Oh ok this is interesting do I think Dimitri is the better opponent hell yeah but is Clare still an amazing opponent for Guts and I hope she gets to fight him hell yeah 16: Son Goku Vs Sailor Moon: Yeah the made the right choice not doing this both had way better opponents specifically Sailor Moon Pegasus Seiya Ok Bonus one's I know about 17: Carnage Vs Alex Mercer: Ok they made the right choice here not using this one 18. Joker Vs Giorno: Yes it has been confirmed that the matchup was planned but got scrapped for Tanjiro Vs Jonathan and it's such a shame too not only is this matchup in the top 50 of most requested Death Battle's but I feel as if they wanted to do a Demon Slayer episode they should of done Tanjiro Vs Edward Elric since that matchup is way better than Tanjiro Vs Jonathan, but back to Joker Vs Giorno not only is this matchup just has so much unique potential it's just such a missed opportunity And that was all the death battle's that never happened and my thoughts on them

Hey who else has a strong feeling that the finale is Calumbo vs Light? (or someone). The big reasons as to why im starting to feel that way is because they have have referenced Calumbo at least twice this season and if Rick vs the Doctor is the beaker symbol then the suit is the only one left because im pretty confident that Goku vs Superman is the recycling symbol. And the suit makes sense for a Calumbo fight.

There needs to be a Asura fight, but not with Kratos cause the power gap between them is beyond too big. He would need to fight someone much closer to his level but still makes sense for him to fight but that part could vary. Asura vs Broly(the one that makes the most sense) Asura vs Goku Black(Both want to fight and kill gods) Asura vs Garou(I dunno sounds cool)

I disagree with Sailor Moon being weaker than Goku. Her power level is absolutely absurd, and her mere base Sailor Form alone outclassed Goku's base super saiyan form by a long shot.

Honestly, I hope Monkey D Luffy versus Naruto happens at some point in Death Battle. It’s one fight I’ve seen debated quite a lot so it would be cool to get a definitive result, but I can also understand why Rooster Teeth hasn’t done it yet. The One Piece world is so weird with both Devil Fruit abilities and the different forms of Haki, it can make it hard to quantify certain things with the battle. This is probably the reason we’ve only seen Zoro in a full-fledged Death Battle.

Naruto is luffy's best mu in terms of animation potential. Plastic man is cringe Natsu is a nice alt but having natsu fight 2 one piece characters is just boring Mr fantastic is even worse Captain marvelous just does not mesh well at all Shiki & Toriko are so much more powerful then luffy that they should just fight each other insted.

According to what's been said Usagi/Sailor Moon is fighting Pegasus Seiya from Saint Seiya which I'm not excited for as the connections are barely there as it's simply "magical boy from the 80s vs. magical girl from the 90s" and it's a complete curbstomp in Seiya's favor in terms of feats, powers/haxes, and strength.
