Apparently, Agatha Christie did meet Joan Hickson. I've grabbed this off of IMDb: Agatha Christie saw Ms. Hickson in the 1946 play of the Christie novel "Appointment With Death." Christie sent Ms. Hickson a note that read, "I hope one day you will play my dear Miss Marple."

MRS Hickson is my favourite Miss Marple. I read she was Mrs Christie choice to play Miss Marple. Mrs Hickson has very clear and distinctive voice. I listen to her all day

Miss Marple is the only Agatha Christie I can listen to and enjoy, as it is pure Theatre . Her writing was so outrageously unreal , and Miss Marple being the most unreal, it makes for ripping good Theatre ! As for Joan Hickson, she was lovely, I actually had a conversation with her once , while in a post office in Wivenhoe Essex ( England ) in the 1980s .

Mary J, agree but you must hear Matthew Jones. His channel is MJAM from London. He does all characters & many think it's the marvelous Joan Hickson.
