LYRICS: Built from blind faith Passed down from self-induced fantasy Turn a page to justify Conjuring power - it opens wide On your seventh day, is that how it's done? Twisting your eyes to perceive all that you want To assume from ignorance Inflicting wounds with your cross-turned dagger [Chorus:] Inside crystal mountain Evil takes its form Inside crystal mountain Commandments are reborn All the traps are set to confine All who get in the way of the divine In sight and in mind of the hypocrite A slave to the curse forever confined Shatter the myth Don't cut yourself On your words against dreams made of steel Stronger than any faith That inflicts pain and fear, is that how it's done? Twisting your eyes to perceive all that you want To assume from ignorance Inflicting wounds with your cross-turned dagger

This is the golden era of Death my friend, similar to the Rust In Peace Lineup of Megadeth. They were untouchable and ascended into LEGENDARY TIER!!! Sometimes you just come together and create something EPIC that can never be matched by anything that comes after hence why Chuck ended this Album with Perennial Quest an unquenchable thirst for perfection!!
@bryanc19757 жыл бұрын
Man, Chuck was incredible. The first concert I ever went to was Death, maybe 25 years ago, along with a band called Devastation. It was right after Spiritual Healing came out, I was about 15 at the time. We managed to go because my older friend has gotten his driver's license and we drove up to West Palm Beach. I shook Chuck's hand after the show. Can't really say I "met" him, I was just standing in a group of people he greeted and shook hands with. The Spiritual Healing album was life changing for me at the time, as I was just learning the guitar then. I really should go back and listen to Death (and other music that inspired me early on) more often. Everything I've read about him since then proves what I thought at the time, that he was a super cool guy. I wish he was still around.

Actually, I think 'Season Of The Dead' by Necrophagia is the first proper death metal album, seeing as how it was released a few months prior to the release of 'Scream Bloody Gore'. 'Seven Churches' was more of a transitional album between the more extreme end of thrash metal and early death metal, in my opinion. However, it did give death metal its name, obviously.

@mooninites3 I am *so* envious of you - long has it been since I was in the same situation. To answer your question: All of the 'Symbolic' album, then proceed both to 'The Sound of Perseverance' *and* chronologically backwards from 'Symbolic'. It gets less sophisticated the further back you go, but it's still all badass, IMHO.
