I do really like the "area = power" style of map, iv played some of the other ones as well. The creator seems to have weapons power up not in a smooth linear arc, so unlike the data cache version (which just powers up what you they choose gets stronger at a certain point) as long as you get enough land, XY or Z is the better weapon at certain times, and you have to work around that.

They're all named after buildings in the game and are made by Connor Short. :) For instance the one Tom really likes is called "Terps"

A tip from while o was playing is to go cut off the mesh from its source then mortar the area to decrease creep levels on the island, rinse and repeat untill you can secure a strong foothold

I actually took a few shots at this map. The best way I could find was quickly taking both the start of the island Tom went for, and getting a foothold on the island he went for 2nd before it gets deep. You end up with enough territory for the gun to start doing decent work, and have enough firepower to avoid slowing down at that emitter on the hill.

It annoys me how you don't use the morter on areas of really deep creep. Morter gets rid of more creep than the cannon by a large margin, but because it's slow, creep is fast enough to get past it, so to make use of morter, you get it to hit the deep parts at the back, which massively thin out the amount getting to your "front line" where the cannons are.

I would say if you're at all familiar with tower defense then yes, a lot of the maps are designed more to be fun/cool but there are some genuinely challenging ones. Worth picking up though for sure!

It's pretty easy. Tom's mentioned it a few times, but the only real difficulty is in stabilizing in the early game. Once you've managed a foothold, it's really just a matter of time before you beat the map. The first game had one map where I stalemated for a long, long time, but later games add the reactor which lets you create energy without gaining territory. The exception is maps with some kind of time limit. The second game's story mode had a map where you had to get to a lifepod before the creep did. The third one had a map where the creep was mining materials to build a big murder machine which you had to stop before it completed. They were *brutally* difficult.
