CENTURIES OF DAMN
fuck the sun fuck its kind
daylight sucks waste of mine
i fuck my mind narrow my mind
i bide my time like fuck in place
one day i'll wave sun to ice
watch its kind get thrown like rice
my cackle stretch out like thunder
so fucking loud its vulgar
i pull my face out the dirt slow
these days i only wake up third of the way narco
held to deep rapid eye move hold
these days i recede rapid i reload
gun my chances closed road no road left to travel
i know what this calls for wheres my scalpel
operation cut like i'm bored sew my inner war up like corn rows
my internal war blows like freezing fog in oslo
frozen i can't get soft baptized in hoarfrost
like carbon monoxide garage
freeze your blink with sandman's flush
i hate you so much
i hate your laws
i hate your need a cause
i hate your faux touch
i hate every last one of you
i ponder digesting razors just to be done with you
i love you so much
i'm triple the motherfucker mondo fisted full of backwards
from banana town manor my slang step like legless lizard
i fuck around fashion a rocket shoot to mercury for the winter
extended vacation til i decompose on my splinters
i pull my face out the dirt slow
these days i only wake up third of the way narco
held to deep rapid eye move hold
these days i recede rapid i reload
gun my chances closed road no road left
to centuries of damn i've never been so yawn
can't believe i'm still standing can't believe life take this long
i stagger off to find my lighter
i don't return
till the day sag A* validates mankind's destiny in a worm
by the way i don't pet bleachers court side to nose bleeders
like i shoot shit with gimps no response losem' once
incoming second attempt to b real i shh shootem'up
them clueless strut nailed to crucifix lilith shoved up her cunt
i pull my face out the dirt slow
these days i only wake up third of the way narco
held to deep rapid eye move hold
these days i recede rapid i reload
gun my chances closed road no road left

"can't believe life take this long" the first few times i heard this line i teared up. for anyone who's ever thought of ending it all, it captures the despair of utter boredom at your own life, the malaise of it all. asking, "when will it be over?" without even having the energy to do it yourself. it might be the strongest lyric ride's written, for me. i'm in a bit better of a place now, and i hope he is too. i hope anyone reading this and feeling similar is also in a better place.

This song IS triumphant. Even though the lyrics are so bleak, he's still surviving and pushing forward. The background music just reinforces this. He's so dissillusioned with life, and he keeps falling back into the mud, but he always pulls himself out. This song is a damned masterpiece.
@dylanb3988
@dylanb3988 4 жыл бұрын
After thinking of a meaning for this song, I have come to a conclusion. This song is about waiting for the end. For centuries, humans have been waiting for the end instead of taking advatage of the time we have. He talks about how we communicate and talks from different viewpoints. However he muddles this in nonsense lines just as we do, hiding our true feelings throigh a smokescreen of everyday roitine and life. Truly inspiring to me.

This song holds so much value in my eyes. It brings me to a time where I was in a really dark lonely place. The times I would fall in love for people who didn't even know my name. That's what the meaning of the digesting razors line is, its when you love someone so much but they don't even pay attention to you but you can't help but be obsessed. I just cant explain how much of this son I felt, this will forever be my favorite Death Grips song behind closed doors.

Nah I think this line is about Death Grips' fans "I hate you so much I hate your laws I hate your need a cause I hate your faux touch I hate every last one of you" Ride explains why he hates his fans, he hates the fact that most of DG fans look for a deeper meaning in their music instead of enjoying the music as a whole

One of the only things standing in the way of Death Grips becoming sort of legendary would be the insincere fan-base. How can you listen to tracks like this and only post fucking memes about how weird and crazy Ride's lyrics? Not trying to be like '2 real for u' or anything but I just hope critics can take them a little more seriously as artists when 4chan cools down a bit in their hiatus, becomes less toxic.

Tbh, I don't think DG gives even one quarter of a fuck, if you've ever been to a concert, the environment is awsome, and in terms of a fan base that's really all that matters. Also, i think it's kinda a cool fan base, it would be weird if they had a fan base like Queen bae or Kendrick Lamar, its more counter cultural to have fans that love you and hate you at the same time
