Fantastic police and detective work in this case. The best I’ve seen so far. I just hate that he breathes the same air as their poor family. He needs to not breathe. What really happened is unknown. Omg the fear these babies went through. The agony this mom had to go through knowing she couldn’t protect her kids. Just evil. But, he gets 3 healthy meals a day, scheduled fresh air, perhaps a job on the inside, laughs, breathes, and enjoys some kind of life. No stress about money, bills, housing or heartache ever....and just gets to live. I just don’t get it. I just really don’t get it. Why do we care to keep someone like this alive- let him breathe but a day. Why spend money to keep him alive. Can we just look at what he did! Yeah, I worked on the husband work comp file and he had been sent out of state so wasn't there - which allowed that piece of shit to do this. I also worked at the NW Mall bakery with a baker who had been babysat when he was little by Robert Hansen. Then in a night time college class one of my fellow students didn't show up one night. I asked where she was (I stopped watching tv April 1987 so hadn't heard) and everyone looked at me like I was from another planet because I didn't know. Seems she had a brother who did a drive by shooting and one of the guys in the car during it had told the cops so he went to jail. She and her other brother were going to get revenge so they sent some sort of bomb to the guys house and his dad got the package and ended up getting killed instead of the kid who was the target. Even stranger, when I transferred to Seattle from Anchorage I met a stock broker and became pretty good friends. He said I looked like his ex-girlfriend and we went to a few places together, as friends. I liked him but it was obvious not much affected him. I went to a place he usually hung out with at lunch (where a lot of brokers go) and he wasn't there. I asked where Fred was a another friend of his handed me a newspaper. I had to read it twice before it sunk in. He'd gotten back together with his girlfriend and ended up killing her, leaving her 8 year old son without a mother. I was taking paralegal classes and we were required to sit in on a trial and as we were walking to the court we were to observe, I saw Pam's (the bomber) name. She had been moved from AK to WA to be tried. I mentioned the backstory to a girl I was walking with. As we walked farther down the hall I saw Fred's name so again told the girl the backstory on that. I'll never forget it but she looked at me and said "What's with you?" There are too many nut jobs out there.

One thing you learn in the book is that Kirby Anthoney was prime suspect of raping and strangling a 12 year old, giving her brain damage and blindness in one eye, in his home state when he moved in with his uncle and Nancy. He was fleeing from that situation, that was the reason he moved in with them. Kirby’s mother knew about him being the prime suspect in the rape and assault but didn’t warn John and Nancy Newman. Doing so would have prevented John from taking him in. Also, that Nancy’s brother in law who found the family dead and called 911 was in total shock when he made that call. He’s forever traumatized by what he saw. The children’s little gowns pulled up exposing their naked lower bodies, yes even little Angie, a detail left out of these shows. She wasn’t raped but Kirbys saliva was found all over her and trauma to her 4yr old vagina. I think he tried to rape her but she was too little. And he gave up.

I think it's in one of her anthologies. Many of her books begin with one long detailed case, then other shorter cases. But there are other authors who devoted books to this case and I will post them here.
These types of acts are so traumatic, and the fight for life so intense (with very young children there is usually an attempt to hide or to wait to be told what to do) that it's unlikely there would be much noise. The element of surprise and the severity of the situation can also render some ppl unable to speak. I once tried very hard to scream but fear had been so total no sound would come out.

Yesterday I reread "Murder In The Family" by Burl Barer. The FBI profiling done by Jud Ray was spot on in regards to Kirby Anthoney. Thankfully the profiling, and the extreme attention to the details of the crime scene and following up every lead helped convict Kirby. He is a textbook psychopath and his narcissism is off the charts - he thought he would outsmart the police and FBI. Let's hope his fellow inmates know what he did. Cases like this bring to mind "Law Abiding Citizen" style justice.

I don't support the death penalty unless the evidence is overwhelming that the defendant can only be the guilty culprit; because if there is a miscarriage of justice based on witness perjury or falsified evidence, the mistake can be subsequently corrected. However, in this case, the state had enough evidence to justify the death penalty; because of the vicious and gruesome triple murder and sexual assault that this man perpetrated on that lady and her two daughters. I don't understand why it was not imposed on this murderer.
