The show creator actually said that originally they were trying to find a trans actress to play the role, but because being trans is still not very accepted in South Korea there are close to no actors that are openly trans. It could also be quite dangerous for a trans person to be playing a role like that and putting themselves in the spotlight, because it could result in them facing a lot of discrimination. It's an unfortunate reality, but I think they still handled this storyline well and it's still a huge step forward in terms of trans representation in South Korea.

I'm sad that the cop story line this season is just kinda there. Last season, his perspective gave us a lot of insight into what was happening behind the scenes, but now, he's just going in circles trying to find the island that he wasn't able to find for 2 years. I wish they gave him more to do, especially with the bad ass ex Special Forces crew on his side. But we'll see, maybe there will be a point to them in future episodes.
