This is suppose to be the real ending even for the manga, but Death Note was so popular Jump forced it to have a garbage season 2, which Light's death was total bullshit and made no sense at all (he already had an overwhelming advantage and you want me to believe he lost because he acted like a retard). The real ending is much better as L could only outwit Light by sacrificing himself.

If you enjoyed this ending, you might want to read the ending of the manga to see how it stacks up in comparison to this one. I'd argue that this ending is much more positive because the Yagami family doesn't suffer nearly as much as they do in the anime and manga. Still, I love the final scene of the manga for its allegorical meaning (remember that Light's name is written with the kanji for night, moon, and god). Go read the last volume of the manga to see how this ending draws inspiration from its source material.

He was stumped about the 13 day rule and when he was going to use the notebook rem killed him
@mrmetroid10786 ай бұрын
@@BlazingAuras From what I've read, what changed things in the film's ending is three spicific choices from L, Light and Rem; - (1) L decided to take a last-minute gamble - which is that, because he considered his death a big possibility, he risked going behind the team's back to reinstall security devices without telling anyone (after all, he expects he might die - if things go south, he won't be around to get in trouble either way). This is what let him catch Misa recovering the Death Note and using it to kill again, which he was able to work out as Light's instructions and that the 13-day rule was a bogus one Light put there himself - serving as the proof he finally needed to be sure Light was Kira and thereby be sure that trading his own life via writing his own name in the Death Note would bring Kira down then and there. He then goes to Chief Yagami and lets him in on everything with Misa's recorded actions being the justification to keep using the surveillance system - culminating in the team catching Light in the act. - (2) Light got either a tad careless or too trusting of Misa's capabilities by simply telling Misa to recover the notebook - in the anime he was more cautious, telling Misa to re-bury it after taking a few pages out to get around the memory-loss rule of ownership. However, he doesn't do so in the film and Misa, being a bit of a ditz, doesn't think to try it herself - thus she takes the whole-ass notebook with her and gets caught on the cameras L secretly went behind everyone's back to re-install, thus giving L the proof he needed to go to Chief Yagami and zero in on her and Light. - (3) Rem, deciding they were fucked either way and figuring Light was just going to monopolize Misa for his own ends no matter what, decides to spend their last moments flipping Light the bird by burning their own Death Note so that Light can't get it. This leaves Light with just the one Death Note to use, which leaves him no alternatives to fall back on after L swapped it with a fake.

@specialtwice4975 Жыл бұрын
Light was just saying that though. If he truly cared for his dad he wouldn't have even thought about putting his name in the notebook in the first place. (Not if you love them) Other people sure, but his own father? His father never abused him, or was a bad dad. His mom loved her husband too. His sister loved her dad. What could Light say to his grieving mother when she crys everyday and drinks to sleep over the loss of her husband? "Mom, Im sure dad died because it was in the name of "justice" Meanwhile behind her back, up in his room, he puts earplugs in his ears to drown out the crying and thinks to himself "Dammit! I wish she would shut up." For a second or 2 he probably even considers putting his mom's name in the notebook just so she would stop crying and he could live in peace but then he doesn't because he realizes he needs someone to raise his little sister. ^That is who Light really is.
@mrmetroid10786 ай бұрын
@@specialtwice4975 That's kind of the tragic, twisted thing about Light though IMHO; what you're saying, even if true, is probably not how Light sees it at all - I think that, in his mind, he's *not* "just saying that"; I think Light genuinely believes his father would or should understand him and genuinely wanted his approval even despite deciding he "had" to die "for the sake of justice", just like he genuinely deluded himself into thinking he's "the god of the new world".

Agreed. Kira was like nothing this world had ever dealt with and it was woefully ill equipped. He was always going to take at least 2 waves to defeat; one to study him and learn how he operates (and unfortunately die in the process), and the other to use that information to finally bring him down. L weakened him by discovering his secrets. And there was no way he could have done that without keeping him as close as he did. Of course this also meant Kira saw all of L's moves too and was able to stay a step ahead of him, ultimately killing him, but that was the sacrifice L was willing to make if it came to that. L writing his name in the Death Note was no reason as to why he won. Misa was already caught as Kira because the notebook was replaced. L needed to confirm she was the second Kira, so he wrote his name down earlier, because he needed Misa to see him, so she could write his name. (Misa might have been able to see L's lifespan, but Misa is an idiot lol). L wanted to cover this and make sure Misa would see him, and made sure Light wouldn't be able to kill him beforehand. He was that suspicious of Light towards the end, since they already knew the 13 day rule was fake. L also says he was unaware that Light would use the shinigami to kill him. Light was only caught because of his own confession. If Light had kept quiet, there would have been nothing linking him to being Kira. Misa would have been confirmed as the Second Kira after she wrote L's name down in the fake notebook. L wouldn't have died because the notebook was fake, but Rem would have killed L, if not for L writing his own name. (Don't worry poor Watari, I didn't forget you). Light would have got off scot free. But L being L, pressured Light into a stupid decision by making him believe that they didn't know about the 13 day rule sent the Task Force away, only to monitor him. *This decision by L to send the task force away so that it would be just him and Light, plus the decision of making him believe that Misa was the real target resulted in him slipping up. Misa was just a side target where she was confirmed as the Second Kira. But Light was confirmed only after his stupid rant. His own ego caused him to lose. L would have died immediately if he didn't write his name and he wasn't that paranoid, but Light would have still gotten caught by the Task Force. Maybe L wanted to make sure that Light wouldn't sway anybody, because he can be persuasive.* I like this ending, because L dies peacefully knowing he solved the case, knowing who is Kira and the Second Kira along with it.
@tim.prasad03 Жыл бұрын
Also, Rem only mentions Misa's lifespan has dropped as soon as L mentions his plan for Misa to write his name. Because she could also get off scot free saying that the criminals hadn't died and that she wasn't the Second Kira.

I swear, the way L says "This case is solved", it darn near feels like L transcended time and space to finally get that last laugh on Kira that he failed to get in the manga and the anime - either that or Alessandro Juliani (L's English VO) had *really* been waiting to say that to Light since he'd never get the chance to in the anime ^_^. On the flip-side, the way Light just breaks down screaming at them about criminals not deserving the gift of life? Aside from Brad Swaile just hamming it up as light as usual, I swear you can hear an extra edge of desperation and scorn towards L compared to when Near beat him in the anime or manga - because this time Light's being taken down in front of his father, whom he'd convinced himself would or should have understood what he was doing.

Because L used the death note he will not go to heaven or hell. Which is the problem with this ending compared to the anime, if there was a rule saying that if you write only your name and only your name you can go to heaven or hell. So L insures his damnation, unless there is a rule say only if you write your own name you could go to heaven or hell. So what do you think. Also don’t say all humans go to nothingness, if there is a realm of shinigami, than there have to be other realms maybe heaven and hell but what Ryuk means is that because he can’t go to heaven or hell he would either go to another realm or the shinigami realm(which is a theory)

Though in the anime and manga, it’s confirmed that Heaven and Hell don’t exist in the Death Note world. Their existence is made up by humans. Ryuk confirms this in the manga when Light made a deduction about when Ryuk says users of the Death Note can’t go to Heaven or Hell. It’s even in the rules, which the anime’s commercial shots brings up at one point. So your theory is correct to an extent.
