Absolutely perfect character theme, love how it contrasts with the themes of the detectives. Near, Mello, and L’s respective themes all are driven along by the bass of their songs, which in music is commonly reserved for the villain since low pitch= evil. And though the detectives aren’t the villains they still act as the antagonists and are the villains from Light’s point of view. In contrast, the protagonist, the hero, Light gets a theme driven along by Treble. His theme literally represents his belief that he is above everyone else as a god. Love how in the chorus too that a bass finally begins to play for the first time in the song, showing his unravel and his human flaws. DeathNote OST is so underrated despite being literally perfect

This song perfectly represents Light. A man groomed his whole life to be perfect, to live up to his father. He sees himself as perfect, to a divine level even. But until he found it he was still human in strength and power. The Death Note is what made him feel like a god, the power to control fate gave him the power to control others without remorse. In his twisted desire to become a god, he manipulated those close to him and orchestrated the murders of those closest to him. By the end of the show, Light isn’t human. At the conclusion of the show, Light has lost all compassion and empathy he once had before he had the Death Note, but he had not become a god. This theme reflects that Light sees himself as a divine being, with the piano symbolizing how he used to be before the Death Note. The shared instruments with L’s theme represent how L and Light were at the same point before Light got the Death Note, as geniuses who in their eyes couldn’t be defeated. Light deserved everything he got in the end, but if he never found the Death Note maybe it didn’t have to be this way.

Me personally Death Note is one of those anime where it’s perfect some people may argue saying it’s overrated or it died when l’s successors were added but I have not seen anything wrong with the anime or manga and it’s those rare things where they don’t need a sequel or prequel we got a Beginning:Light wants to rid the world of Evil Middle:L Dies And End:Light dies There are no questions that needs to be answered and no cliffhangers

The saddest thing in Light's life was that despite having caring parents and a loving sister, he was himself unable to feel love or compassion for anybody, going to the point of killing his own father because he thwarted his plans. Whereas L, raised in an orphanage where he was probably bullied and ostracized most of his childhood, still had humanity and goodness in him despite his difficult upbringing and peculiar nature. Light's life in itself was more of a tragedy than the death of his greatest nemesis, L.

Death Notes music is somehow perfect. Music doesn't tend to emotionally move me but Death Notes soundtrack does. I can't really explain why but you can *feel* the story behind it even with no lyrics and it feels extremely human. ...Like there's a real human behind the instruments and they're not just mindlessly playing notes off of a sheet.
