Why is Matt so popular? He did like, one thing before he died, yet people always consider him to be a main character for some reason. And yet I never hear anyone talking about Higuchi or Sidoh, who were both characters I really loved. Is it just because of shipping?

Late reply... but anyway. Matt is the third successor to L. Which is kinda a big deal. Yes, the fandom loves him because of the whole shipping thing, but the fact that he also came from the orphanage and we know so little about him, just makes him interesting.
