I’m not going to lie I feel like these Japanese anime live action movies are very under appreciated. Yes the acting in them isn’t the best and the production in them isn’t all that great but at the same time they still put in so much effort in them. I feel like these need more attention because even though they aren’t as good as many American movies and shows at least they are still enjoyable to an extent

Completely agree only thing the American industry has is the best special effects in the world and the best actors in the world and that basically includes props aswell considering their much higher budget but my point is I've felt something is lacking very much in the new movies nowadays not only do they add comedy in every single fucking movie they make but there is no soul to it. for example I feel like they made this movie to do the anime justice, while the Netflix adaptation is to just make as much money off the anime

Why are you all attacking this movie for not being like the anime? If you don’t like it, and feel it doesn’t capture Death Note well, that’s fine, but this movie technically came out BEFORE the anime. I’m so sick of the anime being seen as the only good version of this story. The manga it originated as was - at least in my opinion - just as brilliant as the anime, and even handled certain elements better than it. Similarly this version, while far from perfect, tries to tell the story the best way it can while still keeping a unique spin, even if it’s low budget campy and old. Am I saying you should love this movie? No, but I do ask you to stop using the anime as Death Note the original, because it’s not. It’s an adaptation of a fantastic manga that doesn’t deserve to be swept under the rug just because the anime was good

The portrayal of L here is pitch perfect. Nailed it! But if I was to make one tiny little suggestion to improve the already stellar appearance, mannerisms and character of L... *Straighten his hair thoroughly with flat irons.* Then cut it into *jagged, sharp and uneven bangs* then _tease up the back layers so they spike up and stand on end._ While watching the anime I always envisioned L to have "scene-kid style" jet black hair with a long dramatic *blue-black colored "emo fringe"* that's length would reach his chin and jawline.

This is why I say that people love animes so much. Because they are so easy to understand and the audience think they're watching really smart shows and, every action or situation is explained in some way somehow like narrating it in their mind but live action are also very interesting and smart but you have to understand many things all by your observation, like their expression, their body language and what they do and how they respond to after a difficult situation happens. Not every occurence or behaviour will be explained or narrated out like they're talking in their mind
