@@miaheron3771 Obviously this is just my opinion, however, for my AP English class, I had to analyze the play version of Death of a Salesman. I am simply just a Grade 12 Student but this is my perspective: I can agree with the fact that Happy is driven towards success, but that has less to do with himself and everything to do with the neglect he suffers from his parents' inability to listen to him or show care towards him. As a kid, Happy was trying to impress his family but he could never climb out of Biff's shadow. As an adult, he wants to impress Willy by being successful. What this video gets wrong in my opinion is that Happy is just a womanizing deceiver. They make it sound like he is an antagonist. There are two sides of Happy constantly in the play, one half of him wants to be with his Brother and open their own business (a farm) while getting married and settling. Unfortunately, he is driven to impress Willy and Linda as well, who never acknowledged him or anything he does. This is constantly reminded in flashbacks as well as every time he says "I'm getting married." Although he does modify who he is, his modifications are always based on what Willy told him to be while making a sale. He turns himself into a salesman when meeting the girl at a restaurant. I feel he does this as an outbreak from his own life, as dating and promiscuity allow him to feel important. He is also constantly trying to hold his family together although does a very bad job at it. During arguments, he works with Linda to try and keep the peace. Happy is the character in this novel who has everything setup for himself to live a Happy life, but at the end of the play, is the only one who is not freed. He is too busy caring for his own family and trying to receive some sense of love back then to actually go out and find happiness for himself.

Willy Loman is the best character but I prefer Nicolas Sarkozy.
