Yeah. I have way more interest in a WW2 battlefield and what I've seen of 2042 so far doesn't look as fun as battlefield 5 has been for me. Really wish they would just add more to this game and had a better release.

Antoku refers to Emperor Antoku, and it is said that after the Battle of Dannoura, when the Taira forces were at a disadvantage, most of the Taira clan's generals, including Tomomori, who was in command of the battle, were killed in battle or drowned. Emperor Antoku then sank into the sea in the arms of his grandmother, Nii-no-ama.

Love that the song is a direct reference to prince antoku becoming a dragon at the end of the gempei war. I can only imagine the taira clan looking at the minamoto ships coming to take the lives of them and their family at Dan no ura

Hello! The flute you hear this is most likely a Shakuhachi 尺八, basically a bamboo flute. The other "twangy" string noise you hear is most likely the Koto 琴. Very old Japanese instruments, used I think around the 1800s during the Edo period. Edit: I'm Japanese, but to be honest it's rare to find someone who regularly plays these instruments in the public. You'd have to go to somewhere really old/sacred or a specific theatre just to hear them. So if I do get the instrument wrong somehow please don't burn me to the ground.

When I pass away one day. I'll have this in my funeral song. I want my son to know that I did everything I could for him. To learn from my sacrifice and my failings. Sorry for the somber note. But the death of antoku story made me cry. The young prince became a dragon, he was my sons age now. If I saw my son go like antoku, I would tie a bell around myself too and throw myself into the sea, so I could spare him antokus fate.

It's a mashup of They Push and the menu/spawn theme for Wake Island. Very fitting I would say, especially if you know Prince Antoku of the Gempei War, which is the title's reference.
